The Visual Art curriculum at Chenery Upper Elementary & Middle Schools focuses as much on the creative and expressive process as it does on building technical skills using a variety of medium. Students in Grades 5-8 study many genres of artwork from a wide range of artists and cultures, and they learn to express their own artistic identities in a  variety of ways.

Artists from CMS had their artwork selected for honors by the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Competition. Many of them will have their artwork on display at the annual Scholastic Art Exhibit at Education First in Cambridge (near the Museum of Science).
