Athletics Training

What is an Athletic Trainer?

An Athletic Trainer is a certified and licensed health care provider that practices in the field of sports medicine. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions in collaboration with a physician.

Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied health care profession.

Coordinating medical care and referrals to physicians when needed

Rehabilitating injuries and guiding progressive return-to-play plans

Managing emergencies and implementing lifesaving procedures when necessary

Communicating with families, coaches, and school staff to ensure the best outcomes for our athletes

Boston Children's Hospital Sports Medicine Affiliates

We are proud to partner with Boston Children’s Hospital to enhance the health and safety of our student-athletes. Through this collaboration, we now have two team physicians who work closely with our athletic training staff to provide high quality care and support.

Dr. Andrea Stracciolini

Dr. Benton Heyworth

This partnership allows our athletes access to timely evaluations typically within 48 hours and ensures continuity of care from injury through recovery. While families are always welcome to seek care from their preferred providers, this affiliation offers a convenient and trusted resource for expert sports medicine services.
