An Athletic Trainer is a certified and licensed health care provider that practices in the field of sports medicine. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions in collaboration with a physician.
Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied health care profession.

While you may often see your Athletic Trainer on the sidelines during games, that is only a small part of what we do! We are nationally certified, and state licensed medical providers who work in close collaboration with physicians, school nurses, coaches, and parents to ensure the health and safety of every Belmont student-athlete.
The Athletic Trainer’s goal is not only to get athletes back to their sport safely, but to help them stay healthy, perform at their best, and learn valuable habits for lifelong wellness and injury prevention.

We are proud to partner with Boston Children’s Hospital to enhance the health and safety of our student-athletes. Through this collaboration, we now have two team physicians who work closely with our athletic training staff to provide high quality care and support.
This partnership allows our athletes access to timely evaluations typically within 48 hours and ensures continuity of care from injury through recovery. While families are always welcome to seek care from their preferred providers, this affiliation offers a convenient and trusted resource for expert sports medicine services.
Many student-athletes require additional treatment to return to their baseline level of performance. The Belmont High School Athletic Training staff is dedicated to supporting the health, safety, and performance of all student athletes. Our treatments and services are guided by evidence-based practice, ensuring that every decision we make is rooted in the latest research, clinical expertise, and the individual needs of our athletes.
