The Belmont Public Schools provides transportation in accordance with Massachusetts State law and Belmont School Committee policy:

Grades K-6
In accordance with State law, transportation is provided at no charge for students residing more than 2.0 miles from their assigned school. Google Maps is used to determine mileage. Students residing under 2.0 miles in grades K-6 may register for busing and pay the appropriate fee. 

Grades 7-12
Students may register for busing subject to available seating as well as proximity to their address. Space is limited, so parents are encouraged to register students when registration opens. 

The bus fee for the 2025-2026 school year is $500 per student.

Who pays the bus fee?

• All elementary students (grades K-6) who reside LESS than 2 miles from their elementary school pay a fee to ride the bus.

• All students in grades 7-12 pay a fee to ride the bus.

Payments must be received by the prescribed date to finalize registration.  

Students in grades K-6 who reside MORE than 2 miles from their elementary school and wish to ride the bus DO NOT pay the fee, but still have to register.

Families may apply for a fee waiver based on financial hardship so that no student is denied bus transportation. For information on how to apply, please visit this financial assistance page.

Bus registration is available online through the MySchoolBucks portal. Each student within your household that requires transportation must be registered separately. Seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Online bus registration will open soon for the 2025-2026 school year, and remains open until Friday, August 22, 2025.

Note: Buses often reach capacity prior to deadline, please register early.

Any registration requests made after August 22nd may not be assigned a bus until after September 8th (if space is available).
