Across our elementary and upper elementary schools, Moving Up and Clap Out celebrations took place—marking an exciting milestone for our amazing 3rd grade students as they get ready for upper elementary! At Winn Brook, parents and students gave a big round of applause—complete with cowbells and pom-pom waves—as 3rd graders paraded around the school. Wellington welcomed families indoors for a video presentation, then continued the celebration outside with a festive reception. At Butler, 3rd grade students were cheered on with the message to Dream Big!, while Burbank 3rd graders performed Count on Me to close out their elementary journey. The CUE celebrated its 6th grade class with a special ceremony and wrapped up with a spirited Clap Out. Congratulations to all our rising 4th and 7th graders! Enjoy the summer!

Today, we proudly celebrated our BMS 8th grade students as they marked an exciting milestone—their Moving Up Ceremony! With cheers, smiles, and heartfelt reflections, students closed one chapter and stepped into the next—high school! Congratulations! Enjoy the summer!

Who would win: Jerry Pallotta or a room full of curious students? Everyone was a winner! Author Jerry Pallotta captivated Winn Brook students with stories of growing up by the sea in Scituate and how reading to his kids sparked his writing journey. His tales of selling seaweed when he was a kid, to touching a beached whale and a great white shark, inspired his books—including the popular Who Would Win? series. Mr. Pallotta's visit sparked curiosity, creativity, and a love for reading!

Congratulations to Belmont Public Schools Food Service!
We are so proud to see the Belmont School Food Service Program recognized as a Healthy Meals Incentive School. Thank you for creating healthy, delicious meals for our students!

This morning, the 5th grade chorus filled the auditorium with music and joy during their spring performance. Under the wonderful direction of Ms. Carson, and with beautiful piano accompaniment by Ms. Chen, the students delivered a memorable concert featuring eight inspiring songs. A standout moment was their moving rendition of “We Will”, a piece written after 9/11 to inspire hope and respond to a world of despair through music. The students beautifully captured the emotion and meaning behind every varied piece they performed. Kudos to all the students, staff, and families who made this event so special! Last Friday, BMHS, Wellington, and Winn Brook came together to hold stirring Memorial Day Assemblies in tribute to our local veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. At the high school, the marching band and student singers delivered heartfelt performances of patriotic songs, including a moving rendition of Taps. Veterans introduced themselves, shared which branch of the military they served in, and were warmly welcomed with applause, gratitude, and appreciation for their service. At the elementary schools, excitement filled the air as students greeted our veterans with cheers and fist pumps. Students banged drums as veterans walked in, performed patriotic readings, sang the Armed Forces Medley, turning the assemblies into joyful, meaningful celebrations of service and remembrance. Today, the Belmont community and BHS staff had the pleasure of exploring the 2025 Senior Project Exhibition, proudly presented by the English Department. This year, every senior— including those in AP Literature— was invited to take part in the exhibition. Students poured their creativity, hard work, research, and passion into their projects. The exhibition showcased an impressive range of projects, including:
-Art displays
- Podcasts
- Original poetry
- An adaptive cart
-Explorations of issues in athletics, advertising, conspiracy theories
Each project reflected the unique voice and vision of our seniors. It was inspiring to see their ideas brought to life and shared with the community. We’re excited to see all that the Class of 2025 will accomplish beyond BHS.

Garden Enrichment in Action!
Burbank's students stepped outside the classroom and into our unique garden for a hands-on day of learning, planting, and exploring nature! Ms. Sidman's class had fun digging in the dirt, planting lettuce, spinach, and beets in our veggie garden, and discovering the ants and worms that call the garden home. In the classroom garden, students learned to tell the difference between helpful and harmful insects—bugs can be pretty cool! At the activity table, kids explored the life cycles of butterflies and ladybugs through interactive books and fun activities. A big shoutout to the PTA volunteers and Burbank Gardens for making this experience possible.

This morning, Winn Brook was buzzing with excitement as families gathered for the Kindergarten and 1st Grade Inclusion Assembly! Today, Winn Brook students were treated to an unforgettable experience where music and storytelling came together! Race and Song: A Musical Conversation—co-created by longtime friends Alastair Moock and Reggie Harris—brought history to life through moving songs and real-life experiences. With a mix of traditional and original music, Alastair and Reggie shared personal conversations about race and history, showing how the past shapes the world we live in today. Students didn’t just listen—they sang along and even learned to sign one of the songs! Their powerful performance reminded us all of the importance of listening to one another, fostering community, and working together for a brighter future. Be inspired: https://youtu.be/SCo1ciAsWE4 A huge THANK YOU to the Foundation for Belmont Education for making this inspiring experience possible!

This morning, Burbank students and teachers embarked on a magical storytelling adventure with the artist Len Cabral!
With vibrant energy and masterful storytelling, Mr. Cabral brought his Cape Verdean ancestry to life, weaving together African, Cape Verdean, and Caribbean folktales. He delighted the audience, inviting students to echo refrains and enthusiastically suggest animals to join the journey. To make the experience even more magical, he played the kalimba, an African instrument, adding a beautiful musical backdrop to his tales. A huge THANK YOU to the Burbank PTA for bringing this memorable experience to our school! https://youtube.com/shorts/941VnxTy8og?feature=share
