On Tuesday, the CUE Ambassador Project, spearheaded by 6th grade ELA teacher Maegan Etesse, invited students to become “ambassadors” of a country they are interested in exploring or connected to their heritage. Students represented 49 countries, transforming the cafeteria into a vibrant, global learning experience. Students explored their country’s flag and its meaning, climate, languages, landmarks, and traditional cuisine. They also applied math skills by planning a trip with a $15,000 budget, calculating the cost of round-trip airfare from Boston for four people, along with accommodations, transportation, and sightseeing. Now in its second year, Ms. Etesse said the project was inspired by a student who noticed the many flags displayed in the classroom but didn’t recognize many of the countries and suggested learning more about them. That idea has since grown into an engaging annual tradition.

The holiday break began on a high note as the Madrigal Singers filled Chenery with beautiful holiday songs for students and teachers. Their a cappella performance, complete with period-appropriate Renaissance costumes, brought warmth, joy, and a sense of tradition to the school community. The performers then continued spreading good cheer and the joys of the season at other schools across the district. ✨🎶 Here’s a short clip so you can enjoy the beautiful sound of their voices and a bit of holiday magic. https://youtu.be/XKtEfWD0x9o

Across our elementary and upper elementary schools, Moving Up and Clap Out celebrations took place—marking an exciting milestone for our amazing 3rd grade students as they get ready for upper elementary! At Winn Brook, parents and students gave a big round of applause—complete with cowbells and pom-pom waves—as 3rd graders paraded around the school. Wellington welcomed families indoors for a video presentation, then continued the celebration outside with a festive reception. At Butler, 3rd grade students were cheered on with the message to Dream Big!, while Burbank 3rd graders performed Count on Me to close out their elementary journey. The CUE celebrated its 6th grade class with a special ceremony and wrapped up with a spirited Clap Out. Congratulations to all our rising 4th and 7th graders! Enjoy the summer!

This morning, the 5th grade chorus filled the auditorium with music and joy during their spring performance. Under the wonderful direction of Ms. Carson, and with beautiful piano accompaniment by Ms. Chen, the students delivered a memorable concert featuring eight inspiring songs. A standout moment was their moving rendition of “We Will”, a piece written after 9/11 to inspire hope and respond to a world of despair through music. The students beautifully captured the emotion and meaning behind every varied piece they performed. Kudos to all the students, staff, and families who made this event so special! Just before spring break, Chenery Upper Elementary celebrated Being Responsible in a big way! Our students took the lead in an inspiring assembly—sharing skits, raps, poems, and videos all about what it means to be responsible. To top it off, teachers nominated students who go above and beyond in showing what responsibility means every day. Assistant Principals, Ms. Giunta and Ms. Mathews, proudly presented these students with certificates in front of their classmates and teachers. Way to go, Chenery!
