Today, Winn Brook's 2nd and 3rd grade students performed for their families in a joyful end-of-year concert. The event opened with 3rd grader Audrey McElroy playing the piano and leading her classmates in the Winn Brook song. Students from each grade introduced the song selections and showcased their talents through singing, flute, and drum performances. The concert concluded with a heartfelt song about peace, encouraging the audience to carry that message with them. A special thank you to music teacher Ms. Sinclair, whose passion and dedication helped make this performance a memorable celebration! 👏🎵✨
A big thank you to the PTA for supporting a special author visit to Winn Brook School! Children’s author Maureen Harrington visited first-grade students to share the inspiring true story of Ivy, The Very Determined Dog. Students learned about Ivy, a sweet French Bulldog who became paralyzed in her back legs but never let challenges stop her from living life to the fullest. Her story shared meaningful lessons about perseverance, friendship, and making others feel special — reminders students can carry with them every day. 🐾

At Staff Recognition Day yesterday, Belmont Public Schools and the Belmont Education Association honored educators and staff with 10–30 years of service at a special luncheon, kicked off by a wonderful performance by the Clay Pit Crooners, BHS a cappella group. Thank you for the difference you make in our schools and in the lives of our students every day.

Our Winn Brook community showed tremendous appreciation for Cindy, our dedicated Cross Street crossing guard, last week! Students delivered heartfelt thank-you cards—some printed, some hand-drawn—expressing gratitude for her daily commitment to keeping our children safe. Cindy was visibly moved by the outpouring of kindness. Special thanks to Yulia Borukhina for arranging and to all the families who participated in making Cindy feel valued!

Winn Brook students had a blast at our Wacky Olympics, competing in games with classmates and teachers and hearing from special guest Jamie Hagerman Phinney, former member of the US Women’s Hockey Team and 2005 World Championship gold medalist. Her stories and Olympic spirit made the day unforgettable!

Thank you to everyone who joined the Winn Brook PTA Community Meeting with Supt. Geiser! It was a great chance for parents to learn more about student learning and how the district’s Strategic Plan is shaping our schools. Supt. Geiser shared the vision behind the plan and how it supports student success, and parents asked thoughtful questions that sparked a lively and engaging conversation. Supt. Science in action at WB! 🔦 Our 1st graders learned all about bending light with help from a special visitor from the Discovery Museum—hands-on, engaging, and so much fun! Thank you to Winn Brook PTA for sponsoring this engaging enrichment program!
Winn Brook first graders and families enjoyed an incredible visit from Tanglewood Marionette puppeteer Peter Schaefer! Students saw the marionettes come alive, asked great questions, and loved the playful surprises—like a tarantula in the audience and a farmer puppet spraying water from a flower. Thank you to the PTA for a wonderful family event!

Across our elementary and upper elementary schools, Moving Up and Clap Out celebrations took place—marking an exciting milestone for our amazing 3rd grade students as they get ready for upper elementary! At Winn Brook, parents and students gave a big round of applause—complete with cowbells and pom-pom waves—as 3rd graders paraded around the school. Wellington welcomed families indoors for a video presentation, then continued the celebration outside with a festive reception. At Butler, 3rd grade students were cheered on with the message to Dream Big!, while Burbank 3rd graders performed Count on Me to close out their elementary journey. The CUE celebrated its 6th grade class with a special ceremony and wrapped up with a spirited Clap Out. Congratulations to all our rising 4th and 7th graders! Enjoy the summer!
Who would win: Jerry Pallotta or a room full of curious students? Everyone was a winner! Author Jerry Pallotta captivated Winn Brook students with stories of growing up by the sea in Scituate and how reading to his kids sparked his writing journey. His tales of selling seaweed when he was a kid, to touching a beached whale and a great white shark, inspired his books—including the popular Who Would Win? series. Mr. Pallotta's visit sparked curiosity, creativity, and a love for reading!

Last Friday, BMHS, Wellington, and Winn Brook came together to hold stirring Memorial Day Assemblies in tribute to our local veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. At the high school, the marching band and student singers delivered heartfelt performances of patriotic songs, including a moving rendition of Taps. Veterans introduced themselves, shared which branch of the military they served in, and were warmly welcomed with applause, gratitude, and appreciation for their service. At the elementary schools, excitement filled the air as students greeted our veterans with cheers and fist pumps. Students banged drums as veterans walked in, performed patriotic readings, sang the Armed Forces Medley, turning the assemblies into joyful, meaningful celebrations of service and remembrance.
