Exciting Updates on BPS Early Literacy Curriculum Review! BPS is actively reviewing early literacy curricula to enhance K-3 reading, writing, and word study programming. The Literacy Curriculum Council (LCC) has identified three potential options for adoption: Arts and Letters (Great Minds, 2025), Expeditionary Learning (Open Up Resources, 2025), and
Fishtank Plus ELA (Fishtank Learning, 2021). Explore our webpage for updates and insights into this process! Check out this presentation at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eVVt3OBwC5dZdcB2hfSq8StxYXKHtEgC/view for a closer look at the review process and timeline. Stay tuned for more updates!

Today, we celebrate the everyday heroes who keep our families safe on their way to and from school—our amazing crossing guards! Rain or shine, they show up with a smile, ensuring children and pedestrians cross safely. This morning, students at Winn Brook School surprised their beloved crossing guard, Cindy, with flowers and hugs to show their appreciation. Take a moment today to thank your crossing guard for their kindness, patience, and dedication—they truly deserve it!

From Superintendent Dr. Geiser:
Tuesday, October 1st, the Belmont Police Department received a report from the Veterans Hotline about a caller claiming to be in a bathroom with a firearm at Winn Brook School. Police officers responded immediately, and the Principal initiated a shelter-in-place protocol. All students and staff are safe, and there is no credible threat of a firearm at the Winn Brook school.
The Police Department did a full search and determined that no one with a firearm was in the building. The incident was identified as a "swatting" call—a false report intended to provoke a heavy police response - which has also occurred in other communities.
The safety of our staff and students remains our top priority, and we continue to rely on our established safety protocols in situations like this. There is no threat at the school, and all activities have returned to normal.
