Fun Run- Spirit Day
Thank you to all of the Super Fans who came out and cheered on our runners last Friday. We met our fundraising goal, and the students will celebrate with extra recess on October 31st. Thank you to our PTA and Ted Trodden for all of their hard work to make the Fun Run success and…FUN!
Halloween
As we approach Halloween, we want to remind everyone that students should not wear costumes to school. This decision helps us maintain a strong focus on learning and ensures that our school remains a culturally sensitive and inclusive community.
While Halloween is celebrated by many, not all families observe this holiday. By asking students to refrain from wearing costumes, we are honoring the diverse traditions and beliefs of all our families. This also allows every student to feel fully included and respected in our community.
Additionally, avoiding costumes helps us:
Keep students focused on academics during instructional time.
Prevent disruptions that can occur with elaborate costumes, masks, or props.
Maintain safety by reducing potential tripping hazards or items that could interfere with learning activities.
Support fairness so all students feel comfortable participating, regardless of whether they celebrate Halloween.
Thank you for helping us create a respectful, inclusive, and academically focused environment for all students.

Halloween Reminder
With Halloween right around the corner, please remember the many students and staff with life threatening food allergies in our school. Interestingly, candy is the #1 offender of hidden allergens. I encourage everyone to think of creative ways to keep our school community healthy and safe while having fun this Halloween.
Our school wellness policy includes not giving out any candy, chocolate, or food in classrooms and reminding all students not to share or trade any “treats”. This is important not only during Halloween, but at all times to avoid potential food related reactions.
Please do not send candy to school. We are teaching good nutrition, keeping children with food allergies safe, and supporting children with obesity and other health conditions.
Tips for a safe and helpful Halloween:
Consider participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project which is a worldwide movement to create a safer, happier Halloween for all kids, especially those with food allergies, by providing non-food treats and posting a ‘teal pumpkin’ picture in your window and your house location on a map..
Consider having your child donate a portion of their candy to local community centers, shelters or to the military. treats for troops has a map for local donation sites and can be a way for groups such as sports and scout teams to get involved. operation gratitude sends candy to deployed military, veterans and their families
Did you know Belmont Orthodontics Raises $ for the PTA? Belmont Orthodontic’s Candy BuyBack program will be back this November. Belmont Orthodontics gives $2 for every pound of candy that a child brings in (10lb limit/child) AND Belmont Orthodontics will make a matching donation to the child's school PTA. Be sure to mention Butler when you go!
Inspect your child’s treats carefully. Throw away anything that may have been tampered with or containing small pieces of hard candy that may be a choking hazard for young children.
1st Grade Physicals
Updated physicals are required of all students entering 1st grade. Some physicals have been received but many are still missing. Please send in a copy of your child’s most recent physical as soon as you can.
Vaccine Clinic
Have you and your student received your annual flu vaccine? Be sure to schedule your appointment for the Belmont town and school vaccine clinic on Wednesday, October 29th from 2:30-4:30 PM. Osco Pharmacy staff will be available at the Belmont Middle School Cafeteria
221 Concord Ave (Enter the building through the Field House Door 21 of the middle school). Available vaccines include Flu, COVID-19, Pneumonia, RSV, Shingles, and Tetanus vaccines. Click the link to register for an appointment: Starmarket OSCO/vaccinations/BelmontSchools 10-29-2025 Please note, insurance cards are required since many vaccines are covered by insurance with no copay including lu, COVID-19.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
