From Dr. Nolan

It is hard to believe that we have been in school for 12 days. Thank you to all who were able to attend our Back-to-School Night. We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated community. Thank you to the staff who worked hard to get the school and classrooms ready for last night. It was a great event!

Our Principal/Community Coffee will take place this Friday, September 19, from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. in the cafeteria. I hope to see you there.

Every family should have received a link to update their information for our student information system. If you haven't already done so, please complete these forms, especially the student update form, as this information is used for all school-based communications, including the directory. Please don't hesitate to contact the main office with any questions or concerns.

School Advisory Council

The Butler School is seeking two parent representatives and one community representative for the School Advisory Council. According to the Massachusetts Education Reform Act of 1993, every school in the state is required to have a School Advisory Council. The Council's role is to assist the principal in identifying students' educational needs, setting educational goals for the school, reviewing the annual budget, and developing the yearly School Improvement Plan (which is reviewed by the School Committee). The SAC meets virtually about 4-5 times a year, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Please email Dr. Nolan at enolan@belmontschools.net if you are interested in serving on the School Advisory Council.

The meetings are virtual and are held from 6:00 to 7:00 on:

10/9/2025

12/11/2025

2/12/2026

4/9/2026

Family Math Night

Deep Dive: K-6 Math Family Curriculum Night

Monday, September 23, at 7:00 pm (on Zoom). The event will be held on Zoom, and the session will be recorded for those unable to attend live. Find the link and more details on this flyer.

This session is designed for families who want to gain a deeper understanding of the new math curriculum that will be implemented in all K–6 classrooms by the 2026–2027 school year.

At this session, you’ll:

  • See what a lesson actually looks like and how it’s different from a traditional math class.

  • Hear directly from curriculum provider representatives about the philosophy and design of the program.

  • Take the time to ask your questions and explore how this change will impact learning.

If you’re eager to learn more about how this curriculum will shape your child’s math experience, this session is for you!
