Attn Butler Families:
This past holiday weekend, we received notice from one of our finalist candidates that she was formally withdrawing from the process. She stated that “a family situation [has] come to light” which prevents her from being considered. While disappointing for us, we respect her decision to prioritize family.
After consulting with the Butler Principal Screening Team – a group of dedicated stakeholders who put 3+ weeks into this process – we have made the decision to suspend the permanent principal search and instead move to an interim search. As such, we are cancelling the public interview with Butler parents/guardians (previously scheduled for Tuesday, 07/08/2025 @ 6:30-7:30pm) and we have closed access to the interview question submission form (scheduled to close Tuesday, 07/08/2025 @ 3:00pm). For interim positions a public interview is not typically conducted, as this position will be appointed by the Superintendent (upon recommendation of the Screening Team). We will conduct a full search next year for a permanent principal at which time we will include a parent/guardian public interview, as it is a part of our standard process.
As we have said from the start, “[W]e seek to hire a permanent Butler principal…[but] we remain open appointing an interim principal….” While these may not be the specific circumstances we anticipated, we are nonetheless comfortable with this decision.
This week, the Superintendent will interview the recommended candidate for an interim position. We are also proceeding with all scheduled background checks, reference checks, etc. We will communicate with the Butler community once we have a status update about the interim position.
We remain dedicated to hiring a leader for the Butler School who can support students, educators, and families in the way they deserve. We continue to target a start date of 07/15/2025.
