The Book Fair is happening!
Spread the word. The Book Fair is going on in Wellington’s Community Room! Invite your neighbors, family, and friends to check out this year’s improved and amazing selection of new books - a diverse selection of fiction, non-fiction, picture books, chapter books, and advanced readers. Come and check it out:
Wednesday, November 15th - 1:30 to 7:00PM Thursday, November 16th - 2:30 to 6:00PM
We are still looking for volunteers to help make the event possible – particularly during the 4-7 hours which are our busiest! Please consider signing up for even a 1.5 hour shift. You can do so here. Please note that you must already have a CORI on-file with the school to volunteer.
Support the Belmont Public Schools! Important Meeting Thursday November 16
This week you have the opportunity to impact a critical decision by the Belmont Select Board which will soon be deciding on the size of the funding override for the April 2024 ballot. Passing an override is critical to maintaining the current status of our schools - passing an adequately sized override will enable investments in our schools!
In addition to this past Tuesday’s budget meeting, there is another critical meeting this Thursday November 16th that we encourage parents to attend. Thursday's meeting is a public hearing on the school budget. This is the only public meeting scheduled, and a big turnout will be an important statement that parents and other concerned residents want adequate funding for our schools.
Here are the meeting details:
Thursday, 11/16 (6:30 Town Hall, Select Board Conference Room 455 Concord Ave., Belmont https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84926109106 Webinar ID: 849 2610 9106)
Winter Coat Drive We will be collecting gently used or new, clean adult and child winter coats and children’s snowpants from December 1-15th. Donations can be dropped in the boxes at both Wellington school entrances. All donations will benefit Children's Services of Roxbury. Thank you to Nomita Ganguly and her daughter Mira for leading the initiative again this year!

Our First Grade Enrichment Coordinators and volunteers!
This week the Acton Discovery Museum visited the first graders to explore weather. The students learned about precipitation and evaporation. The students got to experiment with thermometers, dry ice and created clouds out of shaving cream!
The PTO runs on our volunteer engine and we have many opportunities throughout the year for families and guardians to participate and support our students. The best place to start is by completing our PTO Volunteer Interest form - here.
Important note to all volunteers: Everyone will receive a CORI form (one per household - feel free to make a copy) in your Communications Folder. If you can support the PTO and would like to volunteer, CORI forms are required for every parent volunteer. You must bring the completed form and a form of ID to the Wellington office to complete the process. CORIs are valid for three years! We highly recommend you get these completed early in the school year.
