Introducing Aisha Foxx Telfort, PTO Co-President 2023-24 School Year!

In her own words:

I am proud to say that I am a Massachusetts native. I was raised in Brockton before completing a bachelors degree in nursing from Salem University. I met my husband Jude while working as an oncology nurse at Boston Medical Center. While living in Medford, we had our children Olivia (8) and Jeremiah (6). Shortly after having Jeremiah, we made the decision for me to leave nursing after a 15 year career to stay home with our children.

In 2017, we moved to Belmont and were instantly drawn to the deep sense of community that has continued to grow stronger over the years. Since my children have attended Wellington Elementary, I have been impressed by the significant work of the PTO and enjoyed volunteering and getting to know the staff and families.

I am excited to join the amazing team, as PTO Co-President! I look forward to connecting and building relationships with the school community!

Volunteer at the Wellington Library: End of Year Shelf Reading!

The Wellington Library is looking for volunteers to join us on Monday, June 12th to help go through shelves, put things back in order, and pull out books that need repair or replacing. No experience necessary. If you're able to join us, even if only for a short amount of time, please follow this link to let us know you'll be there: https://signup.com/go/tWTaqMo

Last Call for Lost & Found

We’re still brimming with sweatshirts and water bottles. Make sure you check the Lost and Found before the last day of school! All remaining items will be donated after June 15th.

Field Day was awesome - and hot!

Thank you parent volunteers for making the first all school Field Day possible! And thank you Aimee Doherty for the most fun and well run day ever!

Introducing the Wellington Traffic & Student Safety Team!  Help us keep our students safe and monitor the bus driveway as this is a “no drop-off” area.

  • We are aiming to find one volunteer each morning from 8:20am-8:55am. Volunteers must sign-in at the main office and obtain a safety vest. You can sign-up here!
  • Also, please remember to be considerate when parking around Wellington and do not block the crosswalks or the driveways of our neighbors. There is no active pick up. Please do not pull into the parking lot or driveway at dismissal to retrieve your child.
  • Thank you to Erika Wolf for leading this team and our efforts towards student safety.

Important Dates:

June:

  • June 10:        Carnival 11am-3pm
  • Jun 15:          Last Day of School (11:40 am early dismissal) + Fourth Grade Send Off (4GSO)

Thank You To...

Mary Ellen Birenbaum and Dynelle Long for a gorgeous final Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. Every luncheon this year was such a treat for our teachers. Thank you to our community for all of your contributions!

Open Positions

Recruiting for 2023-24 School Year - Open PTO Board & Coordinator Roles:

We invite the Wellington community to look ahead to next year’s volunteer opportunities with the PTO! Open Coordinator roles and descriptions can be viewed here. Some roles have one person committed, and we’re looking for more to complete the team. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Co-President, Lindsay Kalmakis at wellingtonptopresidents@gmail.com

  • ASE: Have your children enjoyed the ASE offerings this year? Interested in teaching a one hour class next school year? We can’t offer this popular program without instructors. Parents / Guardians have taught classes in running, meditation, languages, and LEGO just to name a few! Have an idea? We’d love to hear from you! ase.wellington@gmail.com

The CUE Corner (Chenery Upper Elementary)

ATTENTION 4th Grade Families / Rising 5th Graders - We need your help!

  • The Chenery PTO is reorganizing due to the district reconfiguration.  The Chenery PTO is seeking individuals to fill positions for the Middle School PTO and Chenery Upper Elementary PTO.  Please fill out this form if you are interested in serving either organization.
  • Chenery After School Clubs

Do you think it's important for Chenery students to find their PASSION and make FRIENDS?  We are looking for volunteers to help run the Chenery PTO after school clubs in 2023-24. (Sadly, our current volunteers will be moving on to the High School.)

This year alone close to 300 students signed up to join in on the fun. We ran popular clubs like Dungeons and Dragons, Chess, Japanese for Fun, and more!  Without your help, the PTO clubs will not run!

Whatever your skills, please volunteer! The tasks are easy and don't require a lot of your time:

  1. Help Organize (respond to emails, set schedules, coordinate logistics)
  2. Plan Clubs to Offer (Recruit Instructors, Organize clubs for webmaster)
  3. Promote clubs to parents (Draft/Edit emails, Coordinate web updates)
  4. Manage the Finances (Process scholarships, organize instructor payroll)

For more information, please contact us at CheneryPTOClubs@gmail.com.
