Opening Remarks

Spring has sprung and we are gearing up for the April Recess from April 17-21.

LAST CALL for LOST AND FOUND! Claim your belongings before we donate them at the end of the day, tomorrow, Thursday April 13th.

We are heading into our final months of the school year and we have exciting events to look forward to! Whether you can volunteer or join as an attendee, read on to learn about our Spring line-up, including our on-site at Wellington events: Multicultural Night (May 5) and Carnival (June 10).

Note: If you plan to volunteer for any PTO events, you are required to have a CORI form on file (valid for 3 years) at least 2 weeks prior to the event. Come by the Wellington main office during school hours to submit the form, and bring a valid ID.

Notable Mentions

AAPI Heritage Month - Seeking Volunteer Guest Readers!

Wellington is celebrating AAPI Heritage by reading biographies of important Asian-American and Pacific Islanders during library time the first week of May. We are asking for parent/guardian volunteers, especially those of Asian and Pacific Island Heritage, to read one of the selected books to their child's class during their library time the week of May 1-5. The books will be provided by the library.

All volunteers must be CORI checked. Sign-up here!

SPIRIT WEAR IS BACK!

We have a whole bunch of brand new designs and products featuring Whaley, including trucker hats and tie-dye and everything is available in kid AND adult sizes! Shop the whole collection here and orders will ship DIRECTLY TO YOUR HOUSE, now through April 30.

Multicultural Night is coming up soon!

  • We will gather to celebrate cultural diversity at our school on Friday, May 5th from 6:00–8pm.  Wellington is so lucky to have students and families who come from all parts of the globe. Let's get together outside (weather pending) to learn about other cultures, enjoy some food and entertainment, and revel in the fresh air! If the weather doesn't cooperate, we will set up inside Wellington.
  • We are looking for some volunteers, either to host a "country table", help setup/cleanup, or serve/organize food.  If you can't volunteer, we understand, and hope to see you at the event! Please find volunteer openings here!

Save the Date: Wellington Spring Carnival is June 10 - Call for Volunteers

Carnival is back for more bouncy houses, face painting, music, cotton candy, food trucks and fun this year on Saturday, June 10 from 11 am - 3 pm. Volunteer slots are now open and if you sign up, you’ll get a limited edition carnival t-shirt. Sign up here!

Attention Current Kindergarten Families: Are you looking for something for your child to do on the May 11 and 12 Kindergarten intake days? Einstein’s Workshop is offering STEAM Days in Burlington, MA. Read more here

So Many Enrichment Happenings!

  • The Tanglewood Marionettes treated the Kindergartners to a performance of Cinderella last Friday.
  • Drumlin Farm visited the 1st graders on Monday for a hands-on program, “Life in the Water.” The kids were full of curiosity as they met Lisa, a 30-year-old painted turtle, and investigated pond water samples to learn what she might eat in her native habitat.

Open Positions

Recruiting for 2023-24 School Year - Open PTO Board & Coordinator Roles:

We invite the Wellington community to look ahead to next year’s volunteer opportunities with the PTO! Open Coordinator roles and descriptions can be viewed here. Some roles have one person committed, and we’re looking for more to complete the team. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Co-President, Lindsay Kalmakis at wellingtonptopresidents@gmail.com

  • ASE: Have your children enjoyed the ASE offerings this year? Interested in teaching a one hour class next school year? We can’t offer this popular program without instructors. Parents / Guardians have taught classes in running, meditation, languages, and LEGO just to name a few! Have an idea? We’d love to hear from you! ase.wellington@gmail.com

The CUE Corner (Chenery Upper Elementary)

ATTENTION 4th Grade Families / Rising 5th Graders - We need your help!

  • The Chenery PTO is reorganizing due to the district reconfiguration.  The Chenery PTO is seeking individuals to fill positions for the Middle School PTO and Chenery Upper Elementary PTO.  Please fill out this form if you are interested in serving either organization.
  • Chenery After School Clubs

Do you think it's important for Chenery students to find their PASSION and make FRIENDS?  We are looking for volunteers to help run the Chenery PTO after school clubs in 2023-24. (Sadly, our current volunteers will be moving on to the High School.)

This year alone close to 300 students signed up to join in on the fun. We ran popular clubs like Dungeons and Dragons, Chess, Japanese for Fun, and more!  Without your help, the PTO clubs will not run!

Whatever your skills, please volunteer! The tasks are easy and don't require a lot of your time:

  1. Help Organize (respond to emails, set schedules, coordinate logistics)
  2. Plan Clubs to Offer (Recruit Instructors, Organize clubs for webmaster)
  3. Promote clubs to parents (Draft/Edit emails, Coordinate web updates)
  4. Manage the Finances (Process scholarships, organize instructor payroll)

For more information, please contact us at CheneryPTOClubs@gmail.com.

Reminders

  • Please remember to be considerate when parking around Wellington and do not block the crosswalks or the driveways of our neighbors. There is no active pick up. Please do not pull into the parking lot or driveway at dismissal to retrieve your child.
