DEI Corner

Cultivating a More Inclusive Community: It Takes All of Us

On March 15th, the Belmont High School PTSO’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion subcommittee hosted a community conversation via Zoom on “Why Inclusion Matters.” Several members of Wellington’s DEI Committee attended the session, led by experienced DEI facilitators Christina Horner and Michelle Chalmers. The session offered a chance for Belmont families and educators to unpack their ideas about and experiences with diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, to share their own stories, and to discuss ways each of us individually, and together as a community, can foster belonging inside and outside of Belmont’s classrooms. The conversation continued with an opportunity to connect at an in-person session on “Building an Inclusive Community” at the BHS Auditorium on March 21st.

For more information, or to get involved with the Wellington DEI committee, please contact: wellingtondei@belmontschools.net

Open Positions:

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the Wellington PTO Volunteer Interest Form 2022-23!

  • Now Hiring! We’re looking to fill a PTO Board position, VP of Community Events ASAP - you’ll liaise with our event chairs on beloved traditions including: Skate Night, Science Night, Multicultural Night, Fall Picnic, Movie Night & BINGO!
  • Join our Carnival Team - Cotton Candy! Bounce houses! Face Painting! The Wellington Spring Carnival is our biggest event of the year, planned for June 10th. We are looking for four leads to run event teams: Volunteer Coordinator (oversee all volunteers leading up to and on day-of-event), Operations Coordinator (setup / breakdown, custodial support, etc), Vendor Coordinator (food trucks, bounce houses), and Marketing Coordinator (communications and raffle). Contact wellingtonptofundraising@gmail.com if you are interested.
  • Have your children enjoyed the ASE offerings this year? We can’t offer this popular program without instructors. Parents / Guardians have taught classes in running, meditation, languages, and LEGO just to name a few! Have an idea? We’d love to hear from you! ase.wellington@gmail.com

The CUE Corner (Chenery Upper Elementary):

ATTENTION 4th Grade Families / Rising 5th Graders - We need your help!

  • The Chenery PTO is reorganizing due to the district reconfiguration.  The Chenery PTO is seeking individuals to fill positions for the Middle School PTO and Chenery Upper Elementary PTO.  Please fill out this form if you are interested in serving either organization.
  • Chenery After School Clubs

Do you think it's important for Chenery students to find their PASSION and make FRIENDS?  We are looking for volunteers to help run the Chenery PTO after school clubs in 2023-24. (Sadly, our current volunteers will be moving on to the High School.)

This year alone close to 300 students signed up to join in on the fun. We ran popular clubs like Dungeons and Dragons, Chess, Japanese for Fun, and more!  Without your help, the PTO clubs will not run!

Whatever your skills, please volunteer! The tasks are easy and don't require a lot of your time:

  1. Help Organize (respond to emails, set schedules, coordinate logistics)
  2. Plan Clubs to Offer (Recruit Instructors, Organize clubs for webmaster)
  3. Promote clubs to parents (Draft/Edit emails, Coordinate web updates)
  4. Manage the Finances (Process scholarships, organize instructor payroll)

For more information, please contact us at CheneryPTOClubs@gmail.com.
