Opening Remarks

• As we’re preparing for our Thanksgiving recess we feel so grateful for our Book Fair Team and the MANY volunteers and shoppers that made this special tradition such a success! Thank you to our Wellington families for contributing to classroom libraries, honoring special teachers and specialists, and for clearing the Gold Box - TWICE. It’s so heartwarming to be a part of such a special and generous community.

 

Notable Mentions

• Giving Tuesday (11/29) is just around the corner! While we know there are so many worthy causes that need your support, we ask you to please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support the PTO's mission to support our kids, their teachers and the school community. Every dollar helps and we're committed to working to use funds in the same year they're raised so your kids will see the benefit of your donation. Two ways to give:
  • Pay online via credit card
  • Send a check payable to Wellington PTO (Memo: “Annual Fund” and your child’s name) and return to school in their Communications Folder OR mail to: Wellington School, ATTN: Wellington PTO, 121 Orchard Street, Belmont, MA 02478

• Spirit Wear - Thank you all for your spirit wear orders! We are hoping to receive  all merchandise before the winter holidays and will distribute orders that were marked as "not a gift" to the children's classrooms noted in the order. For gift orders, our fundraising team will be coordinating a pick-up event before the holidays. Stay tuned -- more to come in an upcoming Whaley Weekly!

• The Lost and Found is full! Calling all parents and guardians: please stop by the Lost and Found (beside the cafeteria) at dismissal or After Care pick-up between now and Dec 14th to collect your belongings. Any coats and snow pants leftover past that date will be donated to our Winter Coat Drive (all other items will be donated).

• A HUGE thank you to our Book Fair Co-Chairs: Ashley Addington and Karen Wong, our VP of Fundraising Lucy Seche - and the MANY amazing volunteers who ran a shift (or two..) to help make this year’s fair a success. Thank you to the extremely generous families and guardians who purchased books for our teachers and staff, and those who supported our Gift Box donations.  This represents exactly the kind of equitable community we are striving to become at Wellington. 

• The Field Trips Continue! Last week, the third graders visited the Plimoth Patuxet Museum.  A big thanks to Ali Weihofen and Sarah Aldy our VPs of Programs & Enrichment, our 3rd grade coordinators; Becky Berk and Sara Colleary, along with our parent and guardian chaperones for exploring the Wampanoag and Plimoth Villages with our students.

• ASE is hiring for our Winter and Spring, 7 Week sessions! Interested in teaching a one hour class? We can’t offer this popular program without instructors. Parents / Guardians have taught classes in running, meditation, languages, and LEGO just to name a few! Have an idea? We’d love to hear from you! ase.wellington@gmail.com

• Our dynamic After School Extracurricular team is expanding. Come and be a part of this rewarding program! Help to brainstorm new offerings, develop the schedule, liaise with teachers and outside vendors, communicate with families! Job can be done remotely. Reach out to ase.wellington@gmail.com for more information. 

 

 

Reminders:

• Please remember to be considerate when parking around Wellington and do not block the crosswalks or the driveways of our neighbors. There is no active pick up. Please do not pull into the parking lot or driveway at dismissal to retrieve your child.
