Opening Remarks

  • The Scholastic Book Fair Is Coming!
Next month, Wellington’s Community Room will be transformed into an extravaganza of books for our children. We invite you and your family to explore the adventures, mysteries and magic found in these books. We are aiming to grow Bolder, Prouder, Stronger Readers!
  • Come volunteer! This year, the Book Fair is back in full force so we need your help to make this huge fundraising event a fun success! From setting up and decorating (November 8 & 9) to helping with classroom preview days (November 10 & 14) to operating the cash registers, helping the kids shop (November 15 to 17), and packing up (November 17), we can’t do it without you. No experience is necessary, and a fun time is guaranteed! Join us by adding your name to the schedule: Book Fair Sign Up.

*Note from the PTO Co-Presidents regarding volunteer sign-ups:

  • Completed CORI checks and confidentiality forms are required for all volunteers - visit the Wellington main office to submit.
  • For our Nov. 8-9 volunteers (setup and preview) - please sign-up no later than Oct. 31.
  • For our Nov. 15-17 volunteers (sales week) - please sign up no later than Nov. 7.
  • Shop the Book Fair November 15-17! If you can’t volunteer to help, that’s alright. Come do some early holiday shopping instead. A portion of the sales during the Book Fair will go to the Wellington PTO which will help fund our kids’ enrichment programs and field trips.

If you have any questions about the Book Fair or eager to volunteer, please email the Book Fair Team at wellingtonbookfair@gmail.com.

  • Early Dismissal @ 11:40 am - Next 2 Wednesdays! The next two Wednesdays, today, and November 2nd, are early release days.  Dismissal will be at 11:40 and no lunch will be served. On those days teachers will be meeting with parents/guardians for conferences.

Thank You To...

Our outstanding Fun Run team! Led by VPs of Fundraising, Allison Dahl and Lucy Seche, Scot DeDeo, Kate Foster and our many PTO/parent/guardian volunteers at the event. Collectively we raised $19,105 (and counting), earning the students an extra recess and a school-wide Spirit Day!

And…thank you to our incredible Movie Night crew: Kellie Gallagher, Erin Pennock (with support from their incredible husbands!) and Jas Kaur, VP of Community Events, for putting on a super fun showing of Sing 2.

Open Positions:

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the Wellington PTO Volunteer Interest Form 2022-23!

  • Passionate About Safety? We have a need to support our School St. crosswalk across from the school bus driveway entrance at Wellington in order to keep our students safe. We have experienced bottlenecks and safety concerns for walkers as a result of cars parking in the bus lane while they drop-off students. We are asking for volunteers to deter cars from blocking this area from 10/27 - 11/3 sign up here. We will provide yellow safety vests, we just need you! Thank you!

Reminders:

  • ASE is underway! Any questions, reach out to our ASE team at ase.wellington@gmail.com
  • Please remember to be considerate when parking around Wellington and do not block the crosswalks or the driveways of our neighbors. There is no active pick up. Please do not pull into the parking lot or driveway at dismissal to retrieve your child.
  • Please help make field trips, in-school enrichment programs and teacher appreciation events (and more!) possible this year by making an annual donation to the PTO. Every dollar you give supports Wellington students, teachers and our community, and it's tax deductible.
    • Pay online via credit card
    • Send a check payable to Wellington PTO (Memo: “Annual Fund” and your child’s name) and return to school in their Communications Folder OR mail to: Wellington School, ATTN: Wellington PTO, 121 Orchard Street, Belmont, MA 02478
  • Amazon Smile How-To - If you shop on Amazon (and who doesn’t!) AmazonSmile is an easy way to support PTO - just set it and forget it!

Don’t forget to update your app to the AmazonSmile App, and your bookmark to the Amazon Smile storefront. Search “Wellington PTO Inc” to find our charity.
