Welcome, Wellington families! We are thrilled to share the first edition of the Whaley Weekly! Every Wednesday you will receive a newsletter from the PTO with updates on events, volunteer opportunities, school happenings and more! Be sure to check your inboxes on Wednesdays!

Say hello! - Board members will be outside (Blue Playground side) on September 8th and 9th at 8:35 am to welcome you and provide you with PTO insights! Communications Folder - What’s that? This week your children will receive their Communications Folder. They will include some pertinent information from the PTO, particularly our community and fundraising events. Your child’s folder comes home everyday and is a way to get their school work and Wellington happenings into your hands! CORI - Everyone will receive a CORI form (one per household - feel free to make a copy) in your Communications Folder. If you can support the PTO and would like to volunteer, CORI forms are required for every parent volunteer. Bring the completed form and an ID to the Wellington office and you’re all set. CORIs are valid for three years! We highly recommend you get these completed early in the school year.	Annual Appeal - Why donate to the PTO? Read more about this from our Fundraising VPs in their letter in the Communication Folders. T-Shirts - Every Wellington student gets a new t-shirt courtesy of the PTO! They should come home in backpacks within the first couple weeks of school. DEI - The mission of the Wellington Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is to promote cultural competence, reflection, anti-racism, and the creation of Safe Spaces and Brave Spaces. We are tasked to advocate for this mission within the Wellington school community, which includes students and their families, faculty, and staff. The committee strives for anti-bias and anti-racist behavior to be reflected in everyday community interactions, activities, and curriculum. Ultimately, these actions will encourage everyone to become more understanding and aware as we transform into an anti-bias and anti-racist school community. Our next virtual meeting is Tuesday, September 20th at 7 pm. Watch next week’s Whaley Weekly for the meeting link!

Sept. 22 PICTURE DAY! - A portion of all pre-order sales go towards the PTO!

Michelle Faroni assembled a stellar team of high school and middle school volunteers to stuff Communication Folders! We offer community service credit throughout the year! So please be on the lookout for more opportunities for your older kids!

Reminders:

1. Please remember to be considerate when parking around Wellington and do not block the crosswalks or the driveways of our neighbors. 2. There is no active pick up. Please do not pull into the parking lot or driveway at dismissal to retrieve your child.	Lastly - As our returning students know, we voted on a new school mascot at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. We will have new Whaley stuffed animals for purchase soon!
