PTA Committee Positions Available - Please Consider Getting Involved!

As mentioned in last week's newsletter, there have been some recent changes to our PTA Board resulting in new leadership to help drive the Burbank PTA's continued commitment to support our Burbank teachers, staff and organizing amazing events to bring our community together.  The Burbank PTA runs 100% on a volunteer engine, and we have any committees where you may be able to combine an interest/passion with giving back to Burbank, all at the same time! When there are many volunteers, the distribution of work is more spread out and we can accomplish more without the daunting task of doing it all falling on just a few families! Please consider getting involved in helping to make Burbank the special place that it is by joining or leading one of our Committees focused on specific tasks, such as fundraising, website/social media communications, BOKS (Build Our Kids Success) fitness program, Green Team (focused on recycling/sustainability at Burbank), Social Action/Community Giving and much more!  Think there's something important we should focus on but don't have a committee for it yet?  Let us know and we can look to add it!  Please visit the PTA Board & Committees page here for more information on the open positions and reach out to the Burbank PTA via email (maryleeburbankpta@gmail.com) for more information on any of the roles or committees.  We'd love to see involvement from more families, esp. representing all of our grades, to ensure the PTA can continue it's rich history of giving back to Burbank!

Help Determine The Future of the PTA Leadership - Join The Nominating Committee!

In order to remain compliant with the MA and National PTA and to maintain our 501(c) non-profit status, the Burbank PTA needs to have a nominating committee of 3-5 individuals that will nominate at least one eligible person for each office to be filled and report its nominees at the PTA general community meeting in May/June, at which time additional nominations may be made from the the community as well.  If you have an interest in joining the nominating committee and helping to find rockstar individuals to keep the PTA running strong, please reach out to the PTA via email (maryleeburbankpta@gmail.com).

These events are your chance to talk with Principal O’Brien about what’s happening around Chenery and ask your questions and Burbank families are welcome to join, esp. if you have students who will be moving up to the CUE this fall.  The Chenery PTO has also shared the March dates in the event that you are unable to attend the scheduled sessions this month.

Volunteer During Your Child's Library Time!

Sign up to volunteer to help out in the library during your child's weekly class visit or at drop off to re-shelve and tidy shelves. The library needs volunteers interested in checking in and checking out books, re-shelving books and tidying shelves.   It is a nice opportunity to see a class engaged in a school activity. Please use the link HERE to learn more about volunteering and to sign up for an upcoming slot.  A few notes: navigate to your child's classroom using the grade level tabs along the top of the sign-up; slots open up at the last minute so check the sign-up if you find you are suddenly available; and, please cancel if you are sick, or appear sick, or younger child childcare falls through.  See you in the library!

If you are unable to come into the library during your student’s class time but want to make a contribution there are now slots available through the above sign-up link to come shelve books right after drop off.  Come in for 5-25 minutes and help shelve books and see all that is new in the Burbank Library!

Sign-Up to Show Our Teachers Appreciation Throughout the Year!

Sign-up to show appreciation for our teachers by bringing snacks for the Burbank Staff Meetings!  Each volunteer should buy enough snacks for 20 (we'll have two volunteers per meeting so we can cover the entire staff).  Example snacks include fresh fruit, pretzels, trail mix, popcorn, granola bars, cookies, nuts, etc.  Snacks can be dropped off in the front office on the morning of the meeting. Click here to sign up and thanks for showing our teachers some love!

Donate to the Burbank PTA and Help Make a Difference!

While the fall fundraising push has wrapped up, we still have a ways to go  in this school year to reach out fundraising goal which will allow the PTA to continue providing many valuable classroom enrichments, teacher support and community building events and activities.  We encourage all families to consider donating if they have not already, to ensure we can provide the much needed support to our educators and our beloved school. Donations can be made online through the PTA store, or checks can still be sent in with your child's classroom folder or dropped off at the school office.  Checks can be made payable to Burbank PTA.

As a reminder, the Burbank PTA exists to support our teachers and classroom, where and when the school budget doesn't allow for the additional funding to provide enrichments, teacher reimbursements and staff grants, field trips, Moving On Ceremonies, community events (Fall Social, Lights The Way) and much more.  The Burbank PTA is volunteer run, so every hour of time and dollar donated is all given back to our beloved school.  Every gift, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated!
