Spring Garden Cleanup Party and Tour! Saturday, April 13, 9-11am

Please come take a tour of our two gardens and help us prepare the Garden Classroom and Veggie Garden for the students' spring in-school enrichment activities!  We will be raking out the beds, preparing soil for planting, organizing supplies, and putting up pest (aka cute baby bunny) blocking. There is also a planned Fence Art Project in the veggie garden!

We have some tools and materials, but it would be great if you can bring some or all of the following:

  • Leaf Rakes
  • Small Handheld Garden Clippers
  • Gloves (if you want to wear them)

If you can donate some small supplies, we are in need of:

  • Yard waste disposal bags for the event
  • Zip ties for securing the pest blocker to the chain link fence
  • Plastic Storage Containers with secure lids for stacking in the garden bins (like these, not super small or super big)
  • Yarn for Fence Art Project (All bright colors are good!)

No sign up needed but we need at least ten adults (and many kids!) so please email Heather at hrubeski@gmail.com if you plan to come. She will contact you directly in the case of any weather cancellation.

Geography Challenge and Chip City Success!

The 27th Annual Geography Challenge was a success! Students did a wonderful job learning fun facts and working together as a team during the in-school challenge. We are so proud of all their hard work! Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to make this event go smoothly, and to all parents for supporting their students.

Thank you so much for getting out on that terribly rainy day in March to support our PTA Chip City Giveback Event! Chip City has generously donated over $300 in sales to the PTA which will go right back to the school through enrichments and events. We are so grateful for a supportive community!

PTA Community Meeting: May 9th

Mark your calendars for our final PTA Community Meeting on 5/9. This is a very important meeting as we will be presenting our list of roles needed and hopefully finding nominees for the 2024/25 PTA Board and Committee. Many of our absolutely amazing volunteers are moving on with their students to the CUE (we will miss you all so much and are indebted to you all for your hard work all these years!), and we need to fill many positions including Enrichments, Extracurriculars, Grants, Events Co-Chair, Fundraising, Spirit Wear, and Garden. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more, please email the Burbank PTA. The PTA is a completely volunteer-driven organization. All our wonderful in-school enrichments, field trips, events, and extracurriculars happen because of parents like you. With Burbank thankfully remaining open, let's continue to make it the amazing and tight-knit school community that we love and value!

Spring Fundraiser Raffle Winner and New Giveaway!

Congratulations to the winner of last week's fundraising raffle - the family of Reena (2nd grade) and Joon (K)!  We appreciate all of the donations to the Burbank PTA as we inch our way closer to the annual goal of $23,000.  We are at 71% now, so please consider a donation to help us get there in the next few weeks.

For this coming week before April vacation (4/8-4/13), any donations to the Burbank PTA in the amount of $25+ will be entered in a raffle to win a $100 gift card to Savino's in Cushing Square!  A huge thanks to Savino's for this generous donation and support to help the PTA with our fundraising efforts. Winner will be announced on Monday 4/15.

STEM Night is back this Thursday, 4/11 from 6pm-8pm!

STEM Night is back by popular demand and it's bigger than ever!  The Burbank PTA has assembled over 30 activity stations to explore and learn something new, featuring the BHS Science Team, Record Robotics, rocket balloons, gumdrop molecules, engineering fun with marshmallows and toothpicks, and much more! Thanks to our event sponsor Belmont Orthodontics & Belmont Pediatric Dentistry for their generous support of the Burbank PTA and STEM Night.

The event will be held in the Burbank Gym and Cafeteria, and Nick's Pizza will be on-site selling pizza by the slice or whole pies.  Additionally, ice cream from Rancatore's and drinks/chips will be available for purchase as well.  Food and Drink tickets can be purchased online ($1 per ticket) or on-site.  If you have any leftover food and drink tickets from past PTA events, feel free to use them up at STEM Night.

Belmont Books Shopping Event 4/6-4/13

This week is our annual Belmont Books Shopping Event! Belmont Books is generously donating 10% of online sales (use Code BURBANK24 when checking out) to our PTA during the week of 4/6 - 4/13. Shop in-store on Wednesday, 4/10 2pm-6pm, and 10% of those sales will also be generously donated to us! Grab some spring reads for April Break next week. Also did you know many of our wonderful Burbank teachers have wishlists at Belmont Books? Grab some books off Teacher Wishlists to stock classrooms and donations will also go to the PTA - it's an easy win-win!

Multicultural Night: May 2nd

Save the Date in your calendars! Multicultural Night is returning to Burbank on Thursday, 5/2 at 6pm. This is an incredible event that the PTA is very excited to bring back to families, and we want to showcase the diverse array of countries and cultures that make up our amazing community. Activities can range from cooking, interactive games or crafts, educational information, dancing, singing - the choice is yours! We hope the Burbank community will join us in making it an amazing night. Please email Burbank PTA if you missed your chance to sign up but would like to still volunteer.

PTA Weekly Reminders

Volunteer During Your Child's Library Time!

Sign up to volunteer in the library during your child's weekly class visit or at drop off to re-shelve books and tidy shelves! The library needs volunteers interested in checking in/out books, re-shelving, and tidying. It is a special opportunity to see your child and their classmates engaged in a school activity. A few notes: navigate to your child's classroom using the grade level tabs along the top of the sign-up; slots open up at the last minute so check the sign-up if you find you are suddenly available; and please cancel if you are sick or younger child childcare falls through. See you in the library!

There are now slots available through the above sign-up link to come shelve books right after drop-off.  Come in for 5-25 minutes to help and enjoy all that is new in the Burbank Library!
