Thank you so much for all the videos your wonderful children sent in for the PTA Teacher Appreciation Video! It was so special and went perfectly with the thoughtful and festive treats our amazing committee created for our teachers and staff. Check out pictures! We love showing our teachers how much we treasure them. They truly are gold!
Thanks to all the families who came out to have dinner on Pi Day with the Burbank Community at Comella's on 3/14 and to help raise money for the PTA! We're still awaiting the final total for the donation, but we know it's over $100 and as always, every little bit helps!
What an incredible night we had last Friday at the Burbank Family Hoedown! Thanks to all our wonderful Burbank families who came to enjoy a fun night of dancing! This event would not have happened without Nicole Lavoie, Shanna Cahalane, Mary MacGregor, Lindsay Doherty, DJ Paul, and DJ Carlo - these incredible volunteers truly created a night to remember. Shout out to our sponsors Cambridge Savings Bank and Watertown Savings Bank. We generated over $2000 in ticket sales which will go right back to our school through enrichments, events, and grants!
Thank you to all families who donated last week to kick off our spring fundraiser raffle in an effort to hit our annual fundraising goal! The winner of Week 1's raffle for the gift basket from A Chocolate Dream is Haejung Chung! We received almost $850 in donations, and we had amazing participation in our raffle giveaways at the Burbank Hoedown on Friday as well. We are now 67% to goal, so please help the PTA get there with all of your generous donations.
For Week 2, we are raffling off a $100 gift card to The Spirited Gourmet! Any donations of $25+ received between 3/25 - 3/30 will be entered to win the drawing and the winner will be announced next Monday and contacted by email. A big thanks to The Spirited Gourmet for generously providing this amazing prize to help the PTA with our fundraising efforts.

There is an important local election on Tuesday, April 2 in Belmont. There are two ballot questions including the override (question 1) that will directly impact the school district budget for next year. There are also contested races for many town leadership positions and for town meeting. The Belmont League of Women Voters has information on all races and ballot questions if you are looking for information. https://my.lwv.org/massachusetts/belmont (Note: information is provided by the candidates and ballot question committees themselves.)
We encourage everyone who can vote to take part. As a small town, townwide elections are sometimes determined by a hundred votes (and town meeting members by single votes). You can find your voting location here: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/WhereDoIVoteMA/WhereDoIVote. Your vote counts!
To find out more about the school and town budgets you can review many documents here (we recommend the Summit IV presentations): https://www.belmont-ma.gov/town-budget-information

Sign up to volunteer in the library during your child's weekly class visit or at drop off to re-shelve books and tidy shelves! The library needs volunteers interested in checking in/out books, re-shelving, and tidying. It is a special opportunity to see your child and their classmates engaged in a school activity. A few notes: navigate to your child's classroom using the grade level tabs along the top of the sign-up; slots open up at the last minute so check the sign-up if you find you are suddenly available; and please cancel if you are sick or younger child childcare falls through. See you in the library!
There are now slots available through the above sign-up link to come shelve books right after drop-off. Come in for 5-25 minutes to help and enjoy all that is new in the Burbank Library!
In order to remain compliant with the MA and National PTA and to maintain our 501(c) non-profit status, the Burbank PTA needs to have a nominating committee of 3-5 individuals that will nominate at least one eligible person for each office to be filled and report its nominees at the PTA general community meeting in May/June, at which time additional nominations may be made from the community as well. If you have an interest in joining the nominating committee and helping to find rockstar individuals to keep the PTA running strong, please reach out to the PTA via email maryleeburbankpta@gmail.com.
The Burbank PTA runs 100% on a volunteer engine, and we have many committees available to share your skills and passions while giving back to Burbank and our wonderful students! When there are many volunteers, the distribution of work is spread out, and we can accomplish more. Please consider continuing to make Burbank the special place that it is by joining or leading one of our Committees focused on specific tasks, such as fundraising, website/social media communications, BOKS (Build Our Kids Success) fitness program, Green Team (focused on recycling/sustainability at Burbank), and much more! We'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas! Please visit the PTA Board & Committees for more information on the open positions and reach out to the Burbank PTA via email maryleeburbankpta@gmail.com for more information. We'd love to see involvement from more families, esp. representing all of our grades, to ensure the PTA can continue its rich history of giving back to Burbank!
We are a long way from reaching our fundraising goal this year which will allow the PTA to continue providing many valuable classroom enrichments, teacher support, and community building events and activities. We encourage all families to consider donating to ensure we can provide these much-needed supports to our educators and our beloved school. Donations can be made online through the PTA store, or checks can be sent in your child's classroom folder or dropped off at the school office. Checks can be made payable to Burbank PTA.
As a reminder, the Burbank PTA exists to support our teachers and classroom where and when the school budget doesn't allow for the additional funding to provide enrichments, teacher reimbursements and staff grants, field trips, Moving On Ceremonies, community events (Fall Social, Lights The Way) and much more. The Burbank PTA is volunteer run, so every hour of time and dollar donated is all given back to our beloved school. Every gift, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated!
