Fundraising Progress Update!

The Burbank PTA is proud to report that we have now reach 41% of our annual goal, with $10,289 received in direct donations and $2,250 in corporate matches/giving. A special thanks to donors who worked with their employers to gain those corporate match donations from organizations including Google, Takeda, Moderna, Fidelity and Novartis!  We have had 31% of Burbank families donate, plus 2 generous donations from teachers/staff members, all since the start of the 2023-2024 school year!

And congratulations to our Week 5 Raffle Winner, Ajay Chillakuru, who won a $50 gift card to Number 1 Taste!

While this progress is amazing, we still have a ways to go with 6 more months to go in this school year and many valuable classroom enrichments and teacher support planned by the Burbank PTA.  We encourage all families to consider donating if they have not already, to ensure we can provide the much needed support to our educators and our beloved school. Donations can be made online through the PTA store, or checks can still be sent in with your child's classroom folder or dropped off at the school office.  Checks can be made payable to Burbank PTA.

As a reminder, the Burbank PTA exists to support our teachers and classroom, where and when the school budget doesn't allow for the additional funding to provide enrichments, teacher reimbursements and staff grants, field trips, Moving On Ceremonies, community events (Fall Social, Lights The Way) and much more.  The Burbank PTA is volunteer run, so every hour of time and dollar donated is all given back to our beloved school.  Every gift, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated!

Stories&SongsNight

Next Week: Burbank Stories & Songs Night on 12/14 from 7-8pm - ONLINE!

This year the Burbank PTA is taking Burbank Library Night back online to help allow more families to attend on a weeknight evening.  This year, we're bringing some music into the mix with some singalongs in addition to some bedtime stories read by some amazing Burbank teachers and staff, so mark your calendars, get your PJs ready and don't miss it!  Mark your calendars for next Thursday, 12/14 from 7-8pm, and keep an eye out for the Google Meet link to join the pre-bedtime fun!

Save The Date: PTA Community Meeting on Mon 12/18 from 5-5:50pm

Thank you to all families and teachers who took the survey to help determine the date/time/format of our first PTA Community Meeting.  It's tough to accommodate everyone's busy schedules, so based on all responses received, we will be holding the meeting on Monday 12/18 from 5-5:50pm in the Burbank Library.  We are working on a Google Meet link for those who can't attend in person, though we do encourage as many families to participate in person as possible.

Those who need to bring their children with them to the meeting can do so, but please plan to bring a quiet activity for them to do during the meeting so they stay occupied.  Additionally, we want to be sure we leave the library space as organized as it was when the school day ended, so for the purposes of this after hours meeting the library books will be off-limits.  We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in advance.

For those who require childcare to be able to attend, stay tuned - the PTA is still trying to work through a low-cost solution, but in the event we are not able to, we apologize but will certainly continue working to find a solution for future meetings and hope you can join from home via the online link.

Finally, thank you to those who provided additional responses on topics you'd like to ensure we cover - the PTA is finalizing the agenda this week and will be sure to provide that in advance of the meeting.  If there are any topics you want to be sure we cover, please send an email to maryleeburbankpta@gmail.com.

Burbank Spirit Day was a Success!

Thanks to all families, teachers and staff who sported their Burbank gear or our school color with pride last week! It was great to see the sea of Burbank shirts and we hope to have many more of these Spirit Days organized by the school or PTA in the coming months so we can continue to show how much Burbank means to our community!

Volunteer During Your Child's Library Time!

Sign up to volunteer to help out in the library during your child's weekly class visit or at drop off to re-shelve and tidy shelves. The library needs volunteers interested in checking in and checking out books, re-shelving books and tidying shelves.   It is a nice opportunity to see a class engaged in a school activity. Please use the link HERE to learn more about volunteering and to sign up for an upcoming slot.  A few notes: navigate to your child's classroom using the grade level tabs along the top of the sign-up; slots open up at the last minute so check the sign-up if you find you are suddenly available; and, please cancel if you are sick, or appear sick, or younger child childcare falls through.  See you in the library!

If you are unable to come into the library during your student’s class time but want to make a contribution there are now slots available through the above sign-up link to come shelve books right after drop off.  Come in for 5-25 minutes and help shelve books and see all that is new in the Burbank Library!
