October Events:

Burbank-Lights-the-W...

Burbank Lights The Way on Friday, October 20th from 5-8pm (10/27 rain date) - Come join the fun for pumpkin and luminary bag decorating, temporary tattoos, cider donuts, apple cider and hot cocoa as we all get cozy on the turf for a movie showing after the sunsets. Flyers went home in backpacks on Friday, so if you'd like to use a credit card to purchase food/activity tickets in advance or to save time, visit the Burbank PTA Store.  Thanks to Belmont Orthodontics and Hynes Collision Center for their generous support and help to make this event happen.

We still need a few volunteers to help us put on this great community event!  Are you an expert at applying temporary tattoos?  Want to make sure our playground area looks nice and tidy after the event?  Love the smell of apple cider donuts and hot cocoa?  If the answer to any of these questions is YES, then head to this link to sign up!  Shifts range from 60-90 minutes and the extra hands are much appreciated!

Burbank-Fundraiser23...

Burbank PTA Fundraising Efforts Kick Off at Lights The Way!The Burbank PTA (Parent Teach Association) has a long-standing tradition of funding meaningful opportunities for our community, such as classroom enrichments, field trips, teacher grants and community events such as the Fall Social, Lights The Way and STEM Night, just to name a few.  Additionally, this year will be a big one for Burbank with TWO grades moving on in June (3rd and 4th grade), and the PTA historically has always provided funding for special ceremonies and activities so the need for adequate funding is critical.   This year, we will be making a big push to reach our annual fundraising goal early so we can continue to fund this important work for the remainder of the school year.

Stop by the PTA table at Lights The Way to learn more about how you can help, whether it's volunteering or donating to help continue our mission.  PLUS, if you are able to make a donation at the event, you'll be entered to win some amazing prices, including a week of BASEC Summer Camp, swim lessons at Goldfish Swim School, Central Rock Gym day passes and a variety of gift cards to some amazing Belmont restaurants and cafes.  Winners will be drawn and announced before the movie begins, so don't miss it!

Burbank Kindergarten Field Trip Was a Success! Thanks to funding from the Burbank PTA, all of our amazing Burbank kindergarteners were treated to a fun field trip to Honey Pot Hill Orchards in Stow, MA this past Friday, 10/12.  We are thrilled to be able to bring back this fun day again, and we hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather.  An extra thanks to our teachers and parent volunteers who helped with all aspects of getting roughly 60 kids to and from Burbank and the orchard, which is no small feat!

Parent Volunteers Still Needed - Enrichments & Teacher Appreciation

The PTA is still looking for volunteers to help coordinate classroom enrichments AND teacher appreciation efforts!  The time commitment is minimal for both roles, so  you are interested in helping out please email the Burbank PTA (maryleeburbankpta@gmail.com).

Volunteer During Your Child's Library Time!

Sign up to volunteer to help out in the library when your child's class visits each week!  Your child spends between 15-30 minutes in the library each week and you can be there to help their class check books out, shelving returned books or even reading a book to the class (K and 1st grade classes).  The extra set of hands is greatly appreciated by our Library Aide, Ms. Watson and allows you to be a part of showing your child the wonderful world of children’s literature!  Please use the following link to sign up for an upcoming slot for your child's classroom using the tabs along the top to navigate to your child's grade:  Library Volunteers Sign-Ups

If you are new to the library you will need to first fill out a CORI form with Mrs. Sacca. Please take 5 minutes to review the Library Training Slides before your slot which introduces you to the responsibilities of the volunteer that would be great.  If you don't have a chance to review the slides, no worries. Just arrive 5 minutes early and Ms. Watson or another volunteer can walk you through the routine.
