Help Get The Playground Back Up and Running!

As some of you may have seen, the Town delivered new playground wood chips on Friday to help keep our Burbank space safe for the kids, but unfortunately due to limited staffing they are not able to spread them out, which means until that happens, the playground will be closed and off-limited.  This is where we need our community to come together! If any parents are able to get over to the school this week to help spread the chips out onto the playground area, we can get the kids back out there sooner to enjoy these nice fall days on the structures.  We know it's a big job, but if everyone helps out a little bit, we know we can get it done.  Please be sure to bring any necessary tools/equipment to move the chips around and to spread them as evenly as possible.

Burbank Fall Social Was A Great Success!

It was great to see our community out this past Friday evening for our annual Fall Social!  We had great weather and we hope everyone enjoyed this gathering to bring all our Burbank families together, whether meeting for the first time or reconnecting again.  A huge thank you to Nicole Lavoie and all of our volunteers who helped organize and run this event, whether it was spinning cotton candy, selling snacks or getting dunked in the tank!  A big shoutout to all our Burbank teachers and staff who were great sports to take a splash (multiple times).

We were also able to begin our fundraising efforts for the 2023-2024 school year through our ticket sales at the event. The Burbank PTA works tirelessly to raise money throughout the year to provide enrichment programs, materials for staff and students, and many extras that the school budget does not provide. Your support of the PTA is crucial to fill the gaps! Remember- Belmont schools spend in the bottom 5% in the state on its pupils. You can help make a difference for our school!

Save The Date - Upcoming Fall Happenings

PTA Open House on 10/4 from 5-7pm at Comella's - Enjoy a night at Comella's with the Burbank community.  The PTA Board will be available to answer any questions and provide information on upcoming events and how you can get involved and help support Burbank. 10% of all Comella's proceeds during this 2-hour window will go to the Burbank PTA!

*NEW DATE* Burbank Lights The Way on Friday, October 20th from 5-8pm - Based on feedback from families, this event has now been moved to Friday, October 20th to allow for more families to attend given busy weeknight schedules!  The rain date will be Friday October 27th, but fingers crossed we have good weather on the 20th.  Come join the fun for pumpkin and luminary bag decorating, temporary tattoos, cider donuts, apple cider and hot cocoa as we all get cozy on the turf for a movie showing after the sunsets. More details to come next week!

PTA Extracurricular Classes

Registration is still open and spots are filling up quickly!   Check out https://burbank.schooltwist.org to see the fall extracurricular class offerings brought to you by the Burbank PTA.  Remember - every dollar that the PTA makes through these classes goes right back to the school community we love.

Additional Reminders

The town has posted a Form to the Plus Portal website (when you log in go to the Forms tab) which requires you to update/confirm your contact information which will then be shared with the PTA to create our directory.  The deadline to update is 10/1!

Kindergarten & First Grade Enrichment Coordinators Needed

We are looking for (1) Kindergarten parent and (1) First Grade parent who can supervise the Fall Garden Enrichment activities for their grades.  The dates will be scheduled with the teacher; usually this is a 3 hour morning commitment. This volunteer will be in charge of the on-site activity set up/take down and managing the other parent volunteers who will run the activities.  All plans and materials are provided, and no gardening experience is needed.  This role is about making sure everyone is where they need to be, set up/take down, and that students transition between activities smoothly.

We are also looking for K and 1st grade enrichment coordinators as well - if you have the time, please help support these grades and classrooms! For more information or to volunteer to help for any of these roles, please email the Burbank PTA.

Volunteer During Your Child's Library Time!

Sign up to volunteer to help out in the library when your child's class visits each week!  Your child spends between 15-30 minutes in the library each week and you can be there to help their class check books out, shelving returned books or even reading a book to the class (K and 1st grade classes).  The extra set of hands is greatly appreciated by our Library Aide, Ms. Watson and allows you to be a part of showing your child the wonderful world of children’s literature!  Please use the following link to sign up for an upcoming slot for your child's classroom using the tabs along the top to navigate to your child's grade:  Library Volunteers Sign-Ups

If you are new to the library you will need to first fill out a CORI form with Mrs. Sacca. Please take 5 minutes to review the Library Training Slides before your slot which introduces you to the responsibilities of the volunteer that would be great.  If you don't have a chance to review the slides, no worries. Just arrive 5 minutes early and Ms. Watson or another volunteer can walk you through the routine.
