The Summer Reading Lists are a joint project of the Belmont Public Schools and the Belmont Public Library. They are designed to encourage students in Belmont to make reading a habit, raising both their interest in and level of reading. The theme this year is "Read Beyond the Beaten Path!"

Once again we are faced with unspeakable tragedy. As I walked into our building today, I was overcome with emotion thinking about the families that are waking up without their children this morning. There are no words to describe our sadness and anger at yesterday's events.

Today was a great day. We were all safe at school and children spent the day learning, playing and interacting with each other. On Monday we will have a Day of Peace. On this day we will explore the way that peace exists within ourselves, between others, and throughout large and small communities.
