Updates and Announcements

Dear Wellington Families,

It is wet and dreary outside but our school feels warm and inviting.  Our classrooms are bustling with children working together, learning from each other, making new friends and gaining new skills and strategies.  I am writing to share some updates about the upcoming days and weeks with you.

Early Release Days

Tomorrow and next Wednesday are early release days.  Dismissal is at 11:40 and no lunch will be served.  Teachers will be meeting with parents and guardians on both afternoons.  If you have not signed up for a conference, please reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher to schedule a meeting. I know that they are eager to share your child’s growth with you.

Math Specialists

This year, we are fortunate to have added two math specialists who will work at each of the four elementary schools with our 2nd-4th grade students  The math specialists provide support in the classrooms and also pull small groups of students out of the classroom. They work on growing specific math skills that will help students to be more successful with their grade level content.  We are lucky to have these talented specialists supporting students in our building.

 Fun Run

This Friday is our annual Fun Run (rain date November 1st).  We are really excited for our students to get some exercise while raising money for our school. More information, including how to register and donate,  is available on the PTO Page of our website. All students are welcome to wear their Wellington gear for the run.  It should be a great day!

Thank you to all of you for working hard to make our morning arrival smooth and efficient.  Please remember if dropping off your child(ren) by car to pull all the way up and only let your students out of the car only where the curb is painted yellow.  This is how we keep our students safe and keep the traffic moving at a good rate.  Please also remember to follow all parking rules in the neighborhood including not blocking our neighbors’ driveways.

Pool Testing

Last week we began pool testing and will continue it again this week on Thursday. Our school is quite large, and it is possible that the testers will not be able to meet with every child in grades pre-K through fourth grade each week. We are grateful to Beth Rumley, the National Guard, and our teachers and students for making pool testing run smoothly.  The kids did a fabulous job!

I hope that you are able to keep warm and dry during these rainy days.  It is a pleasure to spend each day together with your children.

With best regards,

Heidi Paisner, Principal
