The Chorus program at CMS involves more students than any other program in the school district. With grade-level chorus in each grade (5-8) of well over 100 singers, the chorus program at CMS is one of the most vibrant and thriving programs we have to offer.
Students in Grade 5 who elect chorus rehearse as a large ensemble twice per six-day cycle for 50 minutes. In addition, these students attend two sessions of Classroom Music that focuses on building music literacy skills and fundamental vocal technique.
Students in Grade 6 Chorus rehearse four days per 6-day cycle as a large ensemble.
In Grades 7 and 8, choruses meet twice per cycle as a large ensemble, and twice per week in gender-specific sections. This allows the director and accompanist to work with students on vocal techniques that are appropriate for the different needs of both boys and girls at this age level. Each student attends chorus four times per six-day cycle.
