FROM THE PRESIDENTS
The leaves are starting to change, sports and clubs are in full swing, and the apple cider is flowing. Hopefully you are enjoying your Fall as much as we are. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Annual Appeal so far. Together we have already raised over $17,000, and we are thrilled to start putting this money to use for the students. Librarian Karen Duff is already planning out this year’s authors’ visits, and new enrichment opportunities and clubs are being discussed. We partnered with the community service club to paint the basketball courts. We are excited to have a little more freedom in our planning this year, as we slowly but surely get closer to normal. We hope to see you on Wednesday for our first PTO meeting of the year. As always, you can reach us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Jenny Kresse and Jess Smith
Chenery PTO Co-Presidents
Our first general PTO meeting is taking place virtually next Wednesday, October 13. We are excited to hear from our Assistant Principals, the FBE, and Principal Koza. If you have a question to submit in advance of the meeting for the Assistant Principals go to this form. We hope to see you there!
Please see your email for the Zoom link.
We are nearly three weeks into our Annual Appeal, and we’re so grateful for your generosity. To date, we have raised almost $17,000, which is half way to our goal! If you haven’t donated yet, we encourage you to do so here. Here is Principal Karla Koza on the positive impact that the Chenery PTO has on the school community:
“The PTO truly supports us in our mission to help our students discover who they are, what they are interested in, and what it means to a productive member of our school and their world.”
Thank you for your support, and have a wonderful long weekend!
The Chenery Afterschool Clubs start next week for Thursday and Friday clubs, and the following week for Monday and Tuesday clubs. We had a lot of interest in the fall session and also received a number of suggestions for future club offerings. The next session will begin in January. For parents who are looking for a fun way to get to know the school and contribute to the PTO, we are looking for volunteers to serve on the Chenery PTO Afterschool Clubs Committee. Just reach out to email@example.com for more information.
REQUEST FROM THE DISTRICT
Chenery needs substitutes and professional aides. It is critical our students get supported with caring adults. If you have an interest in working at Chenery as a sub, know that you will have flexibility on which days you work. If you are interested in being a professional aide, the role supports our students with special education plans, includes benefits and all school holidays off. Please contact Mike McAllister at firstname.lastname@example.org.
DIRECTORY IN PROCESS
The Chenery Directory is in process. If you have any questions at all about the directory or about whether your information is included, please email Carrie Redi and Ying Tian at email@example.com.
If you own a business, or have a favorite business owner, the PTO is offering the opportunity to place an ad in the Chenery PTO Family Directory. These advertisers get exposure to the families of over 1400 students and help offset the cost of printing the directory. For more information, please contact the Chenery PTO Fundraising Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org. Because we would like to get the directory to families in a timely manner, the deadline is October 15.
Teacher treats for October were put in the office this week! Thanks to our Teacher Appreciation Team!
COFFEE WITH THE PRINCIPAL
Thank you to Principal Koza for taking the time to speak to parents and to take our questions last Friday. This is much appreciated. Note that our next Coffee is Thursday, November 18.
FIFTH GRADE FAMILY SOCIAL
Thanks to Sabrina Tan and Tracy Pizzi for organizing our Fifth Grade Family Social last Friday. Turnout was amazing, and families enjoyed the chance to socialize and the ice cream sandwiches donated by Moozy’s!
The Chenery PTO has a Facebook page! (https://www.facebook.com/CheneryPTO) Please like or follow the page for the latest news and updates. This page is for sharing information and improving communication. If you have a question or need help, email us at email@example.com and we will do what we can to help or connect you to someone who can help you.
BELMONT COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Note From Belmont Center Businesses
Do your kids go to Belmont Center after school? The Belmont Center Business Association would like to remind you that your children are welcome in the Center after school. At the same time, please remind them to be respectful in their behavior and language and to please throw away trash when they are finished enjoying a snack or a drink. This is very important on upcoming Wednesday afternoons during conference season. Thank you!
