WELCOME FROM THE PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION!

Welcome to the 2021-22 School Year!  Things are off to a great start, and we are enjoying meeting all of the new faces. A big thank you to those who have already reached out to us about volunteering with the PTO this year. We have been very encouraged by the support from new families. As we continue to navigate the ever-changing circumstances of the pandemic (and middle school life in general), we invite you to reach out to us with any questions, needs, and/or concerns you might have. We are here to help! You can reach us at chenerypto@gmail.com.

TEACHER APPRECIATION

Quebrada-cropWe started the year with a food truck from Quebrada for the teachers on Sept. 23. Best wishes to all for a great year. We appreciate Chenery teachers and staff so much.

ANNUAL APPEAL

Earlier this week, the Chenery PTO kicked off our 2021–2022 Annual Appeal. You should have received an email and a flyer that came home with your child. Because this is the only fundraiser we do, this is your chance to give! Please consider a donation. Thank you for your support, and have a wonderful weekend!

COFFEE WITH THE PRINCIPAL: October 1, 9am on Zoom (RESCHEDULED)

This will be a chance to hear from Principal Koza and to ask questions, and to meet one another virtually. We will regularly schedule more of these informal Q&A Sessions as the year goes on.

Please check your email for the Zoom information.

FIFTH GRADE FAMILY SOCIAL: Friday, October 1, 5:30pm, at Chenery (RESCHEDULED)

Come to the tent and the fields behind Chenery for some social time! No RSVP necessary. Meet other fifth grade students and parents! Ice cream sandwiches for the kids have been donated by Moozy’s, and they will be given out at 5:45pm. Thank you to Tracy Pizzi and Sabrina Tan for organizing! This event was rescheduled due to thunderstorms expected this Friday.

DIRECTORY DATA

On September 12, you should have received an email from Belmont_Schools asking you to verify your information. There is a question that looks like the image below to opt in our out of including your information in the Chenery Directory. If you would like to be in the directory, please check YES.

UPPER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT COORDINATORS NEEDED

The Chenery PTO is looking for at least two Upper School Enrichment Coordinators to help organize in-school enrichment programming for the 7th and 8th grade. Based on program requests from the administration and staff, the Committee helps coordinate programs with outside vendors. Committee members contact the vendors regarding scheduling and cost and then work with the administration for scheduling and the PTO Treasurer for payment. The work involves phone calls and/or e-mails and possibly a few short meetings. The PTO would appreciate your involvement in this work. Contact Susan Burgess-Cox at susanburgessma@gmail.com if you are interested.

Note from Belmont Center Businesses

Do your kids go to Belmont Center after school? The Belmont Center Business Association would like to remind you that your children are welcome in the Center after school. However, please remind them to be respectful in their behavior and language and most important to the store owners, please remind them to throw away trash when they are finished enjoying a snack or a drink. Thank you!
