PTO Events and Committees
Fundraising: Fundraising Committee Chairs manage the PTO Annual Appeal in coordination with the PTO Treasurers. This role is busiest during the fall.
5th Grade Activities: This role involves organizing the annual Pasta Dinner for 5th grade students and families, and families new to Chenery in all grades. This committee also coordinates the Bingo and Slush Party, a fundraiser for Ecology Trip scholarships.
Chenery Directory: Each year the PTO creates a student directory. Data is provided by the school district (with parental permission) and volunteers format the information and solicit sponsors to create the resource. The project is completed by late October.
Staff Appreciation Treat Week and Luncheon: Committee members solicit treats and supplies from families to celebrate Chenery’s hard-working staff.
6th Grade Star Party: Coordinators facilitate this event in conjunction with 6th grade teachers to enhance the study of astronomy.
8th Grade Graduation Activities: This group plans the 8th Grade Class Night (and 7th grade parents run it) celebrating the end of tenure at Chenery. Additionally, this committee organizes a reception following 8th Grade Graduation.
PTO Clubs: Clubs Coordinators plan, publicize and manage after school PTO special interest classes. There are 3 sessions throughout the school year, 8-10 weeks each.
Green Team: The Chenery Green team works on building-based waste reduction, recycling, and environmental projects and coordinates with the district-wide Green Team on larger scale efforts. Additionally, the Green Team organizes Walk to School Days and assists with landscaping projects.
Enrichment: In conjunction with teachers and administration, this committee organizes all in-school enrichment programming and several author visits.
Grant Writers: Grant Writers explore and apply for grants to support PTO efforts. Additionally, Grant Writers are available as a resource to teachers.
