Once you have all the necessary documents, you can either bring them to Chenery or email them to us. If you have any questions, please contact the grade level office of your child.

If the school does not hear from parents or a guardian, school personnel will make efforts to contact them. Students arriving after 7:55 a.m. will be considered tardy and must sign in at the School office with a note from a parent.
Please note: If student is absent from school, he or she may not participate in after school or evening activities on that day without prior approval from a building administrator.

In grade 5, Pupil Evaluation Forms are completed three times a year. These are either hand-carried home, given to parents at the fall conference or mailed home.
Keeping track of your grades will help you understand how you are progressing in each class. Using the online teacher portal is a great tool to do this. Report cards and Progress reports: report cards are distributed 3 to 4 times a year at the end of each marking period. Midway through a grading period.

Prior to 7:45 AM, students in grades 5 and 6 may gather in the cafeteria and the auditorium, respectively. At 7:45, all students proceed to their lockers and then to their homerooms. School begins at 7:55 AM with homeroom and morning announcements. School dismissal at 2:25 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (School dismisses at 1:15 PM on Wednesdays)
At dismissal students participating in after school activities or meeting with a teacher may report to the appropriate room. All students who are not in the care of an adult are expected to pack up their materials and report to buses or the front or back exits for pick up or walking home.

The following materials must be submitted after online registration form is accepted: Residency Verification Form, Student Health History Form, proof of residency (as noted in Residency Verification Form), original health records (including physical exam taken place within one year and proof of immunization), birth certificate/passport, official transcripts, MCAS scores (if transferring from a public school in Massachusetts) government - issued photo identification of parents or legal guardians. Belmont School Committee policy determines the extent to which pupils in Kindergarten through Grade 12 are transported by bus. The Belmont Public Schools’ policy for providing busing will follow the State guidelines, and busing for students will be available for a fee. Information regarding school bus registration, including routes and Frequently Asked Questions, can be found here.
All students participate in a six-day rotation of "specials" classes, including art, music, library, physical education, and a technology class. The 6 day calendar is color-coded to correspond to the day in the rotation and it has been incorporated into our school calendar which is available online here. Please note that in the case of a school cancellation, that day in the rotation will be pushed to the day that school resumes.
