Butler Family Newsletter - November 2021

GreetingsfromtheButl...

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Families,

As we continue our Equity work both as a school and a district, one of the major goals is to ensure that we have a warm and inclusive community where everyone feels welcome and valued.  In one small effort to reinforce this, I created the above message that includes almost all of the languages that have currently been identified as primary languages in our Butler homes.  The languages are displayed in order of prevalence within our community.  I used Google Translate, so it's very likely there are errors, and not every language or dialect was available.  If you see an error, or you do not see your language included, please send me the correction, or the text you would like to see included.  Thank you so much!

Fun Run Dance Party

In an effort to celebrate our having surpassed our fundraising goal, we'll be having a Dance Party on Friday, November 19.  Each grade will come down to the gym where a DJ will lead them in fun and dancing.  We need parent volunteers to help supervise the children ( must have completed a CORI check in advance, and provide documentation of being fully vaccinated, and complete our confidentiality form).  Please contact Sylvia Limm sylvialimm77@gmail.com if are able to volunteer at some point during our party.  Below is our draft schedule, which will be confirmed by the end of the week.

 12:00-12:30 Grade 4
 12:30-1:00 Grade 1
 1-1:30 Grade 2
 1:30-2:00 Kindergarten
 2-2:30 Grade 3

School Advisory Council

We had our first meeting last Thursday morning. At the meeting, we covered 1) Introductions 2) Review of SAC responsibilities 3) School Update 4) Reviewing previous School Improvement Plan.  Our next meeting is on December 6 at 6pm.

Pool Testing and Test & Stay

We are continuing to conduct pool testing each Monday, and, with every practice we are getting more efficient, and today we were able to conduct testing of the children in every grade whose family has consented to testing in two hours.

Vocabulary Day Parade!

Our Vocabulary Day Parade was incredible! It was so wonderful to see the children displaying their word power creatively.  We had lots of clever words and costumes that showed the words.

Picture Re-Take Day

Picture Re-take Day is this Wednesday.  If your child was absent on picture day, or you'd like her/him/them to retake their photo, please make sure your child knows.  We'll be calling each classroom to come get their photo during the morning.

Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found area is getting quite full.  This area is where we place any items that have been found around our building and are not labeled.  Please be sure to label all of your child's belongings so that they can be returned to your child.  Any items unclaimed by the winter break will be donated.
