Supplementary Midweek Newlsetter

Dear Burbank Families,

A few items for you. The first two are Health and Safety related, the second two about our 2020 National Blue Ribbon School (NBRS) recognition.

  1. I need to remind all families that our playground is closed during our arrivals and dismissals.  I ask everyone not to congregate or play during those times for the well being of all.
  2. I have had a request from, Chief MacIsaac, Superintendent Phelan and Wes Chin, from Belmont's Board of Health to remind folks about new COVID guidelines. For reference, the Gov. Baker’s COVID-19 Order No. 55 requires face coverings to be worn by all in public, even if they are able to maintain 6ft of social distance from others.  Masks & face Coverings

We have had multiple reports of school age kids (generally middle school and high school age) not wearing masks when gathered in public settings and at some parks/playgrounds. In this pandemic, our choices impact those around us. Please help us by reminding your children and older students that according to the new regulations, masks must be worn when out in public. This applies to kids out on bikes, and if they return to Burbank after school hours.

  1. If you join this evening’s School Committee Meeting you can help us (briefly) celebrate Burbank’s official recognition from the town for earning National Blue Ribbon status for 2020!
  2. If you really like recognition, you may join us for the NBRS 2020 virtual awards ceremony.  I must admit I am not sure what to expect from this ceremony, but you can join me live using this “simulcast” link:

Play Virtual Ceremony this Friday at 1:00.
