Dear Parents,

Many thanks to the volunteers who made the wonderful Fall Social happen last week!  The kids seemed to love the outdoor movie, and we look forward to doing that again.

We have reached 15% of our goal of raising $28,000 for our Annual Appeal for Burbank's enrichment activities, community events, and school project support.  As an example of what the PTA supports, each class has been coming out to participate in curriculum aligned lessons in our two school gardens.  The PTA manages the gardens, runs the activities, and supplies all the materials needed.  If you can, please donate today!

Did You See?  The Mary Lee Burbank School is the fifth ranked elementary school in Massachusetts in the U.S. News & World Report!  Congratulations to all our faculty and students for this amazing recognition!

Reminders from school:

• The next two Wednesdays are again early release days (11:40 dismissal) at Burbank for parent teacher conferences!
• Lost and Found has a bin that is put out on the front stairs daily on good weather.  We're collecting lots of sweatshirts and water bottles, and even some lunch boxes!  Please take a look and remember to label your kid's gear as we move into the season of hats, mittens, and outerwear!
• We are closing the application process for the School Site Council and will have a vote next week.

The Town Recreation Department has asked us to share the following upcoming Halloween activities:

• We are in the process of having our Halloween House decoration contest. Submission are due by Monday October 25 at noon winners will be announce on Tuesday October 26.
• The Belmont Woman’s Club is giving away pumpkins on Sunday October 24^th 1-3pm while supplies last.
• On Friday October 29, we are having a Halloween Pumpkinfest & Movie night on the lawn of the Belmont Woman’s club.
