Mid-year exams are January 21 - 23. The exams schedule is posted on the student portal, BHS website, Library and outside of the main office.
Late Passes: We have a new process for late passes you will need to carry your student ID with you daily and just come into the main office and scan your ID and receive a pass.
Marauder of the Week We’re happy to announce this week’s BHS Marauders of the Week! The winning students this week are Vanessa Yuzlek and Christian Rudder. You can read the profiles, by the Highpoint school newspaper, on the bulletin board outside the office. Congratulations to Vanessa and Christian!
Building Access: The entrance door near the library is now unlocked in the morning before school for students wishing to enter the building (this is the closest entrance for students coming down the walking/cycle path from Concord Ave at Orchard Street). This pathway will be closed to all on Saturday for utility work.
MUSICAL PERFORMERS: Audition for the WTHH Coffeehouse for a Cause. Deadline to sign up is Monday, January 27 at 11:59PM. Auditions are being held on Monday, Feb. 3 and Wednesday, February 5 in the Little Theatre from 6-9 PM. (Snow date is Monday, February 10, same place and time). The Coffeehouse is Friday, March 27 at 7PM (Snow date on Saturday , March 28). To sign up, use your phone to scan the QR code that you can find on the audition flyer. All students have received a copy of the flyer by email to make the sign up easier for all. Flyers are also on bulletin boards throughout the school..
ANNUAL COMPETITIVE TOILETRIES DRIVE STARTS ON MONDAY, JANUARY 27 in MATH CLASSES. Bring in only the needed toiletries through Friday February 7. The math section with the most toiletries will have a bagel or pizza party. Note: the minimum is 75 items and only items on the list will be counted. Flyers are up, and the information was sent to all students, as well.
WTHH: WTHH will meet tomorrow, Thursday the 23rd at 10:30 (after the 1st midterm of the day) in Room 134. Every one should bring 2+ boxes for the Toiletries Drive.
NEW: Wellington After School Enrichment classes needs volunteers. Sessions run from TUES, JAN 21 – FRI. MAR 20, from 2:45-4:05. The classes meet once a week. MONDAYS: Kids Test Kitchen (2 slots); TUESDAYS: Jewelry Making (1 slot); THURSDAYS: Yoga (1 slot) & Mad Science (1 slot); FRIDAYS: LEGO Club (2 slots). MASS AUDUBON HABITAT: Students are welcome to join HEAT (Habitat Environmental Action Team), a free, volunteer group of spirited youth committed to implementing climate action in Arlington and Belmont and part of Mass Audubon’s Youth Climate Summit. Our project for the spring is to implement education programs pertaining to a food justice. The group meets about once every two weeks at Habitat, usually on Wednesday evenings, but there is no set schedule. Interested? BHS SCHOOL BUS SCHEDULE The school bus schedule for the morning will remain the same as last year. The afternoon buses will be picking up student at 3:00 and 3:15 pm outside of the parking lot doors.
LOST & FOUND: All items in Lost & Found will be donated to charity on at the end of each quarter. If you think you have lost something check the Lost & Found. The next donation will be on January 22, 2020.
HANDBOOK RECEIPTS This is a reminder, in your belmontschools.net account, you will receive a link to the BHS student handbook. Please acknowledge that you have read the handbook.
MBTA STUDENT CHARLIE CARDS Any student who wishes to get a Charlie Card may pick one up in the main office.
SCHOOL SAFETY In an effort in keeping BHS a safe and secure school, please do not open or wedge doors during the school day. All doors, except a main entrance lobby door, are locked at 8:15 am. After 8:15 am, students should only use the main lobby door to enter and exit the building. Please do not use any other doors during the school day. At the beginning and end of the school day, students may use any of the outside doors to enter and exit the building.
LOCKING BIKES Students and Staff should be reminded to LOCK their bikes on the bike racks. We have observed numerous bikes not locked.
COMMUTER RAIL Crossing the Commuter Rail tracks is not only highly dangerous but is also considered trespassing. Trespassers are subject to substantial fines and arrest by MBTA Police and Belmont Police.
RECYCLING New to the school in common areas are recycling barrels for beverages. Screw all caps back on before recycling. Blue bins are for paper and Green bins are for plastic, aluminum or glass.
LOCKERS REMINDER Students are encouraged to lock the lock on their lockers. If you are having trouble with your lock/locker please see Mrs. Ouellette in the main office.
