Senior Projects from the Class of 2020

The English department proudly presents Senior Projects from the Class of 2020. Among the projects are senior theses and capstone products. Students writing a thesis demonstrate their ability to create an original argument and synthesize multiple sources including secondary evidence. Students creating a capstone product investigate an inquiry question that is intellectually and emotionally engaging and culminates in academic and creative expression. Both projects show the growth of students’ thinking and writing over the course of a year and are amazing accomplishments.

Each week, members of the staff nominate 2 seniors for the spotlight, for outstanding accomplishments ranging from citizenship to extracurricular activities to scholastic. Our own Highpoint school newspaper staff profiles these students, and the interviews are published in the Belmont Citizen-Herald and posted on the bulletin board by the main office. We are excited for this opportunity to highlight a broad group of the amazing students at BHS!

We hope you are well and taking care of yourselves, your families, and each other during this challenging time. While we have only missed four days of school, we feel like it has been four years since the last time we were all together! We miss you terribly. This building is not the same without you. We have been working hard to develop a plan to keep you engaged in learning and in our community while you are away. We did not want to rush this process or put forth something that was not worthy of you all. Furthermore, we have been thoughtful about how we could make this plan equitable for and accessible to all of our wonderful students.

Course Selection Process for the 2020-21 School Year Overview

The process of registering for classes for the 2020-2021 school year begins with the course recommendation process. Beginning last week through this coming Monday February 10th teachers began speaking with students and entering course recommendations for next year. Teachers will continue to discuss these recommendations, as well as provide information on elective offerings in their departments over the coming weeks. Belmont High School Fencing Team had a Great First Meet

Belmont High School Fencing Team had a Great First Meet

The Belmont High School Fencing Team held its first meet in the history of our school on Friday, January 17, 2020 at a dual meet at the Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Massachusetts.  The Belmont High School fencers competed against fencers from Dana Hall and St. Johns Prep and our team did very well. The first year, by rule, is a qualifying year for the team.  Let’s hope the Belmont High School fencers qualify for next year’s Massachusetts High School Fencing Championship Tournament!
