Superintendent's November 2, 2018 Newsletter

date 11/2/2018
Fall is in full swing with Halloween festivities behind us and the end of daylight saving time creeping upon us. Please remember to "fall back" and set your clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 4. Please also see the latest news and calendar below, with many activities listed for you and your family to enjoy.

School Committee Meeting in Boston:  The School Committee held its October 23 meeting at the Shelburne Community Center in Roxbury. The School Committee does this annually to support communication with our Belmont-METCO families. Also at this meeting, Belmont Against Racism (BAR) donated $16,000 to support safe transportation for Boston students who are participating in after school activities. We thank BAR for their continued generosity and support for our students.

Belmont High School Building Committee (BHSBC): The October 12 Superintendent's Newsletter shared some questions from community members and shared the answers to those questions. The Belmont Citizen Herald recently asked the BHSBC to share information on the new features the BHS grade 7-12 building will have that the current building does not have.

Superintendent's September 20, 2018 Newsletter

date 9/20/2018

The first few weeks of school have begun smoothly, and all six of our schools report a great start to the new school year. Vehicular and foot traffic is always tricky this time of year with people back to work coupled with students back to school. We thank you for your patience on the road and your caution with students in the crosswalks.

We again welcome back our families and students, and for those who are new to the district and are receiving this newsletter for the first time, the Superintendent's newsletter shares information from the Belmont Schools on a monthly basis as well as listing a calendar of school events below. We wish you all a great 2018-2019 school year.
