It is hard to believe we are more than halfway through the school year, as February 7 marked the 100th day of school. It is equally hard to believe that daylight savings time begins on March 10 (clocks go forward one hour). We are six weeks away from the astronomical first day of spring on March 20 with February recess just around the corner. We hope you enjoy the time away and have a relaxing week. Please see the calendar below, busy with events into mid-March.

The FBE’s Annual Fundraiser is our largest event and last year raised more than $120,000 for the Belmont Public Schools. These funds allowed the FBE to enrich the public schools by funding innovative programs for students and teachers. There are many ways to help make this year’s fundraiser another resounding success. How Can You Support the FBE’s Annual Fundraiser?

It is my delight and privilege to visit schools on a regular basis to see teaching and learning in our schools across the district. One of the schools I recently visited was Burbank, who had just held a school-wide "Community Meeting" on, I have a Dream, the speech Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered at the Lincoln Memorial during the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. It was inspiring to see the follow up work done in each classroom. At this time I wish to remind the community of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Breakfast at BHS on January 21 from 8:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with Keynote Speaker Dr. Emmett Price and other distinguished guests. Please go here for ticket information.

We hope you are all having a wonderful start to this new year of 2019. Please see the latest news in the district and in the calendar section below.
