Welcome to Belmont Public School District and the Town of Belmont!

We hope your work experience with BPS is a long and rewarding one. In addition to wonderful schools and colleagues, the district offers an array of benefit programs including insurance, flexible spending, and retirement plans to eligible employees. Benefits-eligible employees include: 

  • Regular salaried employees working 0.5 FTE or more per year
  • Regular hourly employees working 20 hours or more per week
  • Long term substitute educators (Unit A) working 61 or more consecutive days in the same assignment.

Please note that all insurance and flexible spending benefit programs are administered by the Town of Belmont Department of Human Resources. The Department is located in the Town Hall building, adjacent to the School Administration Building.  For more information please contact:

Benefit Enrollment Requirements

  • Employees who are eligible for benefits must enroll within 30 days of your first date of employment in the eligible assignment.
  • If you do not enroll within 30 days of your start date, you will not be able to enroll until the next Open Enrollment period or qualifying event.

  • Please call the Town of Belmont HR office at 617-993-2740 to set up an appointment, or mail your applications, marriage certificate, birth certificates, and check to their office at:

  • In order to enroll into benefits effective on your start date, you must provide the Town of Belmont HR office with a check for one month’s premium of health, dental, or life insurance.
  • Otherwise, the Town will collect the premiums in deductions one (1) month prior to the start of coverage, and benefits will commence thirty (30) days after your start date.
  • All forms will be due in the Town of Belmont HR office no later than the last day of the preceding month.
