Dear Belmont Public Schools Community, We hope you are enjoying the final days of summer vacation and we look forward to welcoming our students and staff back to school. There have been some exciting changes that have taken place within the nursing department some are a result of the Middle School opening!

BPS nurses continue to monitor absences daily and require you to fill out the absence form anytime your child is absent from school due to a failed symptom check. You must also call your child’s school to report their absence. This form does not replace the need to inform administration of an absence.

As many families will be traveling and attending gatherings during the April break, we are also experiencing an increase in COVID cases. Your school nurses would like to take some steps to ensure a healthy transition back to school.

Symptom checker and mitigations. As we prepare for the return to school, we will continue to highlight some Health and Safety guidelines and practices that will be implemented at the start of school. Supporting the safety of our students, teachers, staff, and community is our most important mutual priority. We will continue to work in collaboration to update and refine our guidance for schools as science evolves.

Welcome video and mitigation education. We hope that this video helps to answer some questions you may be having and helps your child prepare for our full return to school in April. Your school nurses are here for you.

Travel and Return to School and Sports PE's. Thank you for your continued efforts on behalf of our students and for providing a safe environment for everyone in our schools. Our mitigation strategies are working within our school buildings.

The 2020 Belmont High School Fall Sports sign-ups are here!  Students participating in fall sports must have an updated physical exam on file with the school nurse prior to sign-up and tryouts in order to participate in school sports. 

As part of a partnership with Belmont Public Schools, the McLean Hospital School Consultation team has recorded two webinars that focus on helping parents navigate challenging COVID-19 circumstances.  One video is geared toward parents of elementary school-aged children and the other video is geared toward parents of middle and high school-aged teens. The videos have some overlapping content, although the examples provided are age-specific. Please see below for a more detailed description.
