Dear Belmont High School Parents and Guardians,
This letter is to inform you of our decision to discontinue our participation in the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and Department of Public Health (DPH) funded COVID-19 pooled testing program for Belmont High School students and staff.
The participation rate has been low from its inception and has declined to the point where it is not worth participating in this program any longer.
We thank all of the staff and students who participated in the program and the staff who made it possible to maintain the program during the 6-week pilot.
On another note:
Staff and students are getting their vaccinations.
The Belmont High School and Chenery are offering Covid vaccination clinics on May 24th and June 14th for students ages 12 and up with parental consent.
Student COVID vaccine percentages as of 5/13/21, by grade, of students who have received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine:
9th grade: 0.014% (note that many 9th graders just became eligible for vaccination)
10th grade: 45.1%
11th grade: 68.7%
12th grade: 79.8%
Please refer to nursing-health-and-safety/vaccines for information on BPS vaccine clinics and other vaccination options.
Respectfully,
Beth Rumley M.Ed.,BS,RN
Director of Nursing Services
