BPS Updated Travel Guidelines

BPS Updated Travel Guidelines

Dear Belmont Parents and Guardians,

Belmont Public Schools TRAVEL GUIDELINES

As of March 22, 2021, the Massachusetts Travel Order was downgraded to an Advisory. Belmont will continue to follow guidelines including testing or quarantine following out-of-state travel.

RETURN TO SCHOOL CRITERIA FOLLOWING TRAVEL OUT OF MASSACHUSETTS FOR A PERIOD OF 24 HOURS OR GREATER:

  • Proof of student/staff negative PCR test (this test must be done after leaving MA and up to 72 hours prior to or any time after your return to MA) You must quarantine until you have the negative test result.
  • PCR tests are required, no viral tests will be accepted.
  • Forward test results to your school nurse; students and staff members may not return to school until they have been cleared by a nurse.

Age-Specific Guidelines for Testing:

  • Students 10 and under can return to school as long as a parent/guardian who traveled with the student submits a negative PCR test to the school nurse. If the parent does not submit a test due to an exemption, the student must test or quarantine for 10 days from the date of return to Massachusetts.
  • All students 11 and older, must provide a negative PCR test or quarantine for 10 days from the date of return to Massachusetts.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days and successfully completed isolation, do NOT need to test or NOT need to quarantine.
  • Individuals who are fully vaccinated (2 weeks after the last dose of vaccine series) do NOT need to test or quarantine.
  • Individuals who are vaccinated and have symptoms of COVID-19 must continue to follow testing and quarantine requirements.
  • No vaccine is 100% effective, protective measures should still be taken seriously even after you are fully vaccinated.
