BHS Quiz Team Qualified for Nine Seasons Straight!

Congratulations to our BHS Quiz Show team, and the entire Belmont High School community on being one of 17 teams that has earned a place to compete on High School Quiz Show Season 11!  They have qualified for nine seasons straight and hold the record for the longest streak of qualifying for the WGBH High School Quiz Show!

Town Clerk Instructions for Residency Portion of School Registration

The State’s mandated Town-wide census will be mailed to all Belmont homes in Early January 2020. Please do not mail the census for your household back to the Town; instead you must hand-carry your signed census form with the other required residency items to the Town Clerk’s Office in order to receive a certified copy for school registration. Certified census forms will only be given to the parent or guardian.

Online Registration Opens for all Grades on January 24, 2020

Online registration for grades K-12 opens on January 24, 2020 for school year 2020-2021. This registration is for all incoming kindergartners and families new to Belmont Public Schools only – please do not register an existing BPS student. Kindergarten Parent Information Night for those entering school in 2020-2021 is scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chenery Middle School auditorium

MMEA Northeast Senior District Music Festival

138 students from Belmont High School auditioned for the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) Northeast Senior District Music Festival. This year seventy-two Belmont High School students were accepted to perform in the MMEA Northeast Senior District band, chorus, orchestra or jazz ensemble.

Veteran’s Day 2019 Exercises at Belmont Public Schools

Veterans were honored at Chenery Middle School followed by Burbank and Butler Elementary Schools on November 8. Programs at schools opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, where the audience stood and veterans saluted, followed by poems, and patriotic songs. Student speakers at all schools helped transition through the program items.

Foundation for Belmont Education Spelling Bee 2019

A record number of approximately 800 students from kindergarten to grade six competed at the 19th annual Foundation for Belmont Education (FBE) Spelling Bee held on November 2 at the Chenery Middle School. The 2019 winning team are the Spelling Champs, sixth graders Simrah Azmi and Michelle Chow, who spelled “haberdashery” correctly.

Outstanding Teacher Awards Recipients 2019!

The Foundation for Belmont Education (FBE) is delighted to announce the recipients of the 2019 Outstanding Teacher Awards and the S. Warren Farrell Award for Educational Excellence, sponsored by Belmont Savings Bank Foundation. Recipients were selected among nominations submitted by students, parents, colleagues, and community members.

Belmont High School Building Project - Quarterly Update

Our project team — which includes our Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) Daedalus, our architect Perkins+Will and our construction manager Skanska— is working hard to meet our budget and timeline goals. Following the successful Town Meeting and ballot votes, a Project Funding Agreement (PFA) was executed by the Town of Belmont and the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA). As part of this funding agreement, the MSBA will reimburse Belmont's eligible project costs up to $80 million. The total project cost will not exceed $295 million.
