Leaders in Youth Mental Health Series - Parent Workshops

As part of a partnership we have with McLeans Hospital, we would like to notify you that their first annual School Consultation Service “Leaders in Youth Mental Health Series” has launched. This series consists of four free parent webinars for the parents in our school district.

Free Meals Announcement Letter

The Belmont Public School’s Food & Nutrition Department would like to update you with exciting news about universal free school meals. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has extended free school meals for all students through the 2022-2023 school year! This means that every student is eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each day. All additional meals outside the first breakfast and lunch will be charged along with the school’s current meal rates.

We hope you are enjoying your summer days and find relaxing time with family and friends. It is with great excitement we welcome all new and returning children to Belmont Public Schools. Although we have many warm days ahead to enjoy, the start of the school year is right around the corner, and we wanted to take this time to give you some updates and reminders for 2022-2023.

Interim Chenery Principal, 2022-2023

I write to share some important leadership news for the Chenery Middle School during this upcoming school year. As you know from our previous correspondence, Ms. Koza will be moving to a new role as "Director of District Configuration Transition" for the 2022-2023 school year. In that capacity, she will focus on leading the evolution of a 9-12 BHS building to a 7-12 BMHS building by September, 2023. It is with great enthusiasm that I announce that Nicolette A. Foundas has been named her successor as the “Interim 5-8 Chenery Middle School Principal” for the 2022-2023 school year. She will assume this role effective 8/8/2022.

This year, Subaru’s Share the Love program brought in $22,000 for the FBE! The FBE thanks Cityside Subaru for valuing education in Belmont and making a tremendous difference in the Belmont Public Schools.

Belmont Public School Tiered Focused Monitoring Summary

Every public school district, charter school, vocational school, and virtual school in Massachusetts is reviewed regularly by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Office of Public School Monitoring. As explained on their website, their vision is “Equitable outcomes for all students,” and their mission states that they “serve students by conducting data analyses and reviews of special education and civil rights policies, procedures, and practices in order to support district efforts to build equitable and inclusive educational systems that meet the diverse needs of all students.”

COVID Cases Reporting Wednesday, May 11, 2022

I write to inform you that new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in our school community. One hundred and eight (108) new COVID-19 positive cases in the district: (19) Belmont High School, (25) Chenery Middle School, (4) Burbank Elementary School, (23) Butler Elementary School, (7) Winn Brook Elementary School, and (30) Wellington Elementary School.

Announcing OTA Recipients 2022

The Foundation for Belmont Education is delighted to announce the recipients of the 2022 Outstanding Teacher Awards (OTA) and the S. Warren Farrell Award for Educational Excellence, sponsored by Belmont Savings Bank Foundation. Recipients were selected among nominations submitted by students, parents, colleagues, and community members. CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS YEAR’S OTA RECIPIENTS!

FBE Announces Learning Excellence and Innovative Teaching Initiative Grant Awards Totaling $21,400

The Foundation for Belmont Education (FBE) is pleased to announce and summarize grants that were recently approved for the 2021-2022 academic year. Attached is a summary of seven new grants totaling $21,400. We are very grateful for the generous community support the FBE receives that enables us to provide this well-deserved support for Belmont Public Schools.

Correspondences - Photography Exhibit from Belmont Gallery of Art

The Belmont Gallery of Art (BGA) has recently opened “Correspondences” a striking new photography exhibit featuring images from both Iceland and Boston that “correspond” to one another. The exhibit was guest-curated by Belmont residents/photographers Bert Halstead and Magnus Snorrason.
