Nominate a Teacher for a 2019 Outstanding Teacher Award

The Foundation for Belmont Education Outstanding Teacher Awards nomination period opens on Monday, February 25th. This recognition program, sponsored by the Belmont Savings Bank Foundation, recognizes and celebrates the extraordinary contributions made by teachers in the Belmont Public Schools. Community members, colleagues, parents, and high school and middle school students are encouraged to submit nominations for teachers who deserve this special recognition. Nominations are accepted between February 25th and March 31st by filling out an online form.

Belmont Public Schools Superintendent John Phelan announced February 5th that Isaac Taylor has accepted the position of Principal of Belmont High School. His work in the District will begin on July 1st, 2019. Mr. Taylor has been principal of North Middlesex Regional High School. His tenure at North Middlesex has involved coordinating the building of and moving into a new school.

Boston Globe Scholastic Art and Writing Awards 2019

We are proud to announce that thirty-one students from Belmont High School earned a total of fifty-two awards this year – Thirty-two Honorable Mentions, eleven Silver Key Awards, and eight Gold Key Awards. Additionally, 11th grader Victoria Shaw earned an American Vision award for her painting submission. Only five American Vision awards are given for the entire region. Victoria’s painting will be placed into consideration to be displayed during the Scholastic Arts National Exhibition in New York City. Congratulations to Sanya Malhotra for winning a Gold Key Award in the Poetry category for her "Scarlet Dreams" in the Scholastic Writing Competition.
