The Belmont High School Campus will be closed to the public beginning Tuesday, June 18, 2019 since the campus will become an active construction site during the summer months. Thus, teachers, parents, guardians, students, and the public will not be able to visit the Belmont High School Campus at 221 Concord Avenue during the summer. Belmont High School will conduct satellite office hours at the Chenery Middle School. Please see our summer hours.

The summer reading lists are a joint project of the Belmont Public Schools and the Belmont Public Library. They are designed to encourage students in Belmont to make reading a habit, raising both their interest in and level of reading. All students are to read over the summer in preparation for the start of the new school year. The theme this year is A Universe of Stories!

Our project team — which includes our Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) Daedalus, our architect Perkins+Will and our construction manager Skanska— is working hard to meet our budget and timeline goals. Following the successful Town Meeting and ballot votes, a Project Funding Agreement (PFA) was executed by the Town of Belmont and the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA). As part of this funding agreement, the MSBA will reimburse Belmont's eligible project costs up to $80 million. The total project cost will not exceed $295 million.

Belmont Public Schools Superintendent John Phelan announced February 5th that Isaac Taylor has accepted the position of Principal of Belmont High School. His work in the District will begin on July 1st, 2019. Mr. Taylor has been principal of North Middlesex Regional High School. His tenure at North Middlesex has involved coordinating the building of and moving into a new school.

We are proud to announce that thirty-one students from Belmont High School earned a total of fifty-two awards this year – Thirty-two Honorable Mentions, eleven Silver Key Awards, and eight Gold Key Awards. Additionally, 11th grader Victoria Shaw earned an American Vision award for her painting submission. Only five American Vision awards are given for the entire region. Victoria’s painting will be placed into consideration to be displayed during the Scholastic Arts National Exhibition in New York City. Congratulations to Sanya Malhotra for winning a Gold Key Award in the Poetry category for her "Scarlet Dreams" in the Scholastic Writing Competition.

As we close out the Foundation for Belmont Education’s silver anniversary year, we are incredibly proud of the important work we have been able to accomplish over the last 25 years. The FBE has awarded a remarkable $3.7 million to the Belmont Public Schools through our Learning Excellence Grants, special initiatives, and professional development programs. These awards have enriched every school and benefited every student in the Belmont Public Schools.
