Belmont Public Schools News

Message from the Superintendent of Schools

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff:

I hope you all survived the snow and cold this week. I want to let you know that the Belmont Public Schools are open and ready for teaching and learning tomorrow, Monday, February 23, 2015.

The last few storms have been challenging and I am thankful that the last storm occurred during the vacation week. This past week the Facilities Department, our custodians, and the DPW staff did their usual outstanding job removing snow and making our school safe and accessible.

I am sure you have been watching the news and may be concerned about the condition of our school building roofs. During this past week the school roofs were reviewed by an engineer and roofing expert. All six schools were given a safe status. Additionally, as a precaution our staff have taken time to walk each roof and each building as late as Sunday afternoon to make sure our buildings are safe.

The cold weather will move in tonight and will make for very cold days to start the week. I ask all parents to have the children dress warm and be careful getting to and from school.

We are not out of the winter season yet, but we look forward to a long uninterrupted stretch of school days to get back into our academic routine.

Thank you for your patience during this tough stretch of weather.
