Instrument Rental Day

Thursday, September 13

4:00-7:00 PM - BHS Cafeteria

Who should attend Instrument Rental Day?

  • Grade 4 String students and families
  • Grade 5 Band students and families
  • Grade 5 Orchestra students and families who do not already have an instrument

What do I need to do before Instrument Rental Day?

What do I need to bring to Instrument Rental Day?

  • A major credit card (to begin your rental agreement with David French Music).
  • A valid photo ID
  • String students should be present in order to ensure correct instrument sizing.

What if I don’t sign up before Instrument Rental Day?

If you have not signed up online, you should still come to Rental Day if you are planning to play an instrument in Grade 4 or 5. Families who have pre-registered will enter an “express lane” at Rental Day. Families who have not pre-registered will have to register on-site before they can rent an instrument. It is highly recommended that you pre-register by following the steps above.

Will we go home with our instrument on Rental Day?

Most likely, the answer is YES! In rare cases, depending on how many instruments they have on-site, David French Music will need to deliver your instrument to your school at a later date.

What if we miss Instrument Rental Day or cannot attend?

Students MUST have an instrument by the second lesson in order to participate in the Instrumental Music Program. If you cannot attend Instrument Rental Day you can do one of the following two things:

  • Contact David French Music directly to set up your instrument rental and delivery:
  • You may rent or purchase an instrument from any vendor you choose, but you must have an instrument by the second lesson in order to participate.
    • Please beware of online instrument prices that appear “too good to be true”. Remember that you will get what you pay for, and most likely will pay for what you get.
  • The rental instruments provided by David French Music are of very high quality. Your rental agreement is an interest-free rent-to-own program that includes maintenance and repairs for the duration of your rental agreement. The wind instruments you are renting/purchasing from DFM will be sufficient to get your child all the way through high school. Your string rental includes step-up sizing as your child grows, so that you will own a full-size instrument by the end of your rent/purchase term.

When will lessons start?

Lessons will begin during the week of Sept. 17. (Some Grade 5 Lessons may begin on Friday, Sept. 14). Your classroom teachers and music teachers will let you know specifically which day/time your lessons will take place.

5th Grade lessons take place during your scheduled music time on days 1-6.

4th Grade lessons take place on the following days:

  • Burbank - Mondays
  • Wellington - Tuesdays or Wednesdays
  • Butler - Thursdays
  • Winn Brook - Fridays
