A Message From the Superintendent, Important Update on the High School Building Project

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff:

It is with excitement and confidence that I write to you with the news that last night the School Committee voted unanimously for the 7-12 grade configuration as part of the BHSBC project. This option provides the district with a creative opportunity to implement a renewed vision of teaching and learning for our students with support of increased space and a new facility in the near future. As you are aware this option will provide much needed relief for our students and educators across our K-12 district as it relates to our enrollment and space challenges. Please click here for the grade configuration presentation.

The next steps  for our BHSBC will be to present this option to the Massachusetts Building Authority (MSBA) to inform the next phase of the project. Please click here for the BHSBC site.

I would like to thank the School Committee,  the BHSBC, and the Belmont Public Schools staff and community for all their input and feedback during this process leading up to these important decisions. We will continue to seek your input and feedback during the next phase of our work.

Respectfully,

John P. Phelan
Superintendent of Schools
Belmont, Massachusetts
