Support the FBE's Annual Appeal and Celebrate 25 Years of Making a Difference

FBE 25 Years of Making a Difference

Dear Friends,

For nearly 25 years, the Foundation for Belmont Education (FBE) has awarded financial support through its grants and special initiatives to promote innovation, creativity, and continued rigor across classrooms and programs in the Belmont Public Schools. From a child’s first days in kindergarten at our elementary schools to their senior year at Belmont High School, thousands of students have benefited from the work of the FBE and the generosity of its donors.

In its first year, the FBE awarded a total of $10,000 for 19 grant requests. FBE grants in 1993 included:

  • An Author Day pilot program at Wellington Elementary School
  • Guest speakers to participate in Human Awareness Week at Belmont High School
  • Supplies and equipment to fund a Readers Theater project at Butler Elementary School

It is amazing to see how far we’ve come! With phenomenal community support, the FBE has grown substantially over these many years. Last year, the FBE awarded a total of $250,000 for 43 grant requests and special initiatives. FBE grants in 2017 included:

  • The purchase of an NVBots 3D printer to be used in multiple departments at Belmont High School
  • A two-day author series for grades 7 and 8 at Chenery Middle School with writing workshops to examine race in American culture and history through literature
  • A Museum of Science Animal Adaptations program for 3rd graders, including a visit from museum staff and classroom books

To date, we have proudly awarded more than $3.5 million to the Belmont Public Schools for grants, special initiatives, and teacher professional development programs. We could not have achieved this truly remarkable milestone without your generous support.

Together we can make a difference for another 25 years! Your participation in our annual fundraising appeal is integral to the FBE’s ability to impact and enrich every student’s experience in the Belmont Public Schools. Please join me in celebrating the FBE’s 25th anniversary and help us continue the tradition of supporting educational excellence in our schools.
