Belmont Public Schools Support Belmont Goes Solar

Belmont Goes Solar!

Join the Belmont Goes Solar Challenge to Lower Your Electric Bill and Help the Environment

Belmont Public Schools is pleased to support Belmont’s campaign to greatly expand the number of homes producing solar energy. Thanks to the hard work of town volunteers and the Energy Committee, and with the support of the Board of Selectman and Belmont Light, Belmont is making great progress toward its goal of 100 new solar installations by the end of April. Now’s a good time to consider solar, with federal tax credits of 30 percent toward cost of a qualified system. In addition, the selected solar installer is offering a time-limited community discount price.

If you're wondering if your home or business is a good candidate for clean and green solar energy, I urge you to request a free solar site assessment of your home at BelmontGoesSolar.org.

Belmont Goes Solar (BGS), a volunteer group of Belmont residents knowledgeable and enthusiastic about solar, has researched and selected Direct Energy Solar (DES) as its partner to install at least 100 rooftop solar systems in Belmont in 2016.  DES has already sold more than 50 solar systems in Belmont, so they will give a donation to help support solar on a town building. But if they sell 100 solar rooftop installations by April 30, 2016, they will donate even more: $25,000 toward a rooftop solar system on a town school or other municipal building. The BGS community program has the support of the Belmont Board of Selectmen, the Belmont Energy Committee, Sustainable Belmont, Belmont’s Mothers Out Front, and Belmont Light; although it is not a town agency, committee, or board.
